I’m becoming a little alarmed. I recently got a letter from my psychiatrist that said although I have “features” of bipolar disorder, I’m more predominantly borderline personality disorder… Still doesn’t explain the massively high moods that I had prior to going on meds… And I’m starting to worry after my strangely high moods today that I might be going up again…

To add to these worries are my ridiculously high sex drive over the past few weeks… My boyfriend obviously likes it but whenever I’m with him I tend to insist that we have sex at least twice a day, usually with a bit of oral stuff too. But it’s getting to the point when, the day after we’ve had sex, I’m already going out of my mind again with sexual arousal. It’s slowly driving me nuts! I’ve been masturbating a LOT more and even being away from my boyfriend for a few days (and not being able to have sex) is driving me nuts. I was meant to be staying at a friend’s house yesterday but I wanted to masturbate so much that I had to go home.

Honestly, I’m just sex mad atm!

I to struggle with this... The only issue I see is when hypersexuality leads to promiscuity

Why won't your psych increase or change your meds if you are showing signs of mania?

Because no matter how high I get, no matter how out of control, if I haven't been hospitalised for my elated moods its probably not serious enough to be dx'd bipolar.

That sounds to me like you need a new shrink. Seriously that has to be the stupid reasoning I've ever heard of. You can have bipolar disorder and be hypomanic and not need to be hospitalized because of mania.

Your daily life is being severely impacted and you need help. I'd suggest you get a second opionin if there is anyway you can.
Thanks for this!

Already did and the second opinion said I have features of bipolar but more predominantly borderline personality disorder... its annoying.

The first one didn't take a single word I said seriously. Didn't believe anything.
The second one is my current psych. She said I deffos wasn't bipolar.
The third one was just a temporary psych, a third opinion who only saw me on a one off basis.

So unless 3 psychs are wrong :/

Some people just have bad luck with doctors! So it IS entirely possible that three psychs could be wrong. I know that the last thing you probably want to do is find yet ANOTHER one, but it sounds like your best bet now... Mania is mania -- no matter whether you go to the hospital or not! It's causing you embarrassment & potential relationship problems; what is there to debate?

Feel better soon. Is there anything that distracts you from sex? Anything at all? Maybe finding that would keep you feeling more "in control" in the meantime.
