This is my first known manic stage. It's now day 3 into it. I'm feeling unbelievably great. Haven't felt this way in such a long time, it's almost wonderful. I know it's not going to last and that I will have just as low of a depression mode, but why should that stop me from enjoying my ups when I have them? It's been a year since I've been in therapy, I liked my doc, but didn't really connect with her after 5 months of once a week sessions. Anyway, does anyone else enjoy their manic modes when they hit or do you try to ignore them BC it feels pointless to just fall back into that dark hole?

It depends on how high you are I guess. If you are bipolar disorder I, going manic is dangerous. If you are bipolar disorder II, you might end up with doing some stuff you wish you didn't. Your post sounds rational so you don't seem too high. The last two times I was fully manic I did not have depression afterwards so you might not drop into depression, unless that is your normal mood. There is a theory that untreated BP can make it worse, so we always of course recommend a visit to a psychiatrist and to take your meds. But some creative types enjoy their manic moods, apparently.
