Work problem

Okay, so... I hate to spam with another thread, but... This doesnt' really fit in with my other topic.

I just started a job about a month ago, at this nursing home. I love it, don't get me wrong, but there are a few people there who are... Kind of a b****.

I can stand one of them okay, and one of them really gets on my nerves, but the one I'm most frustrated with at the moment is the one I want to focus on.

Awhile back, for New Years, I was scheduled to work on New Year's Eve. I really wanted this, because I had New Year's plans. Well, she asked me if I could switch with her and I said okay.

So, I did her something nice, you would think she would do it for me, right?

I don't think so.

I start college next week (My second semester) and I had to add a new class last minute. I was already scheduled to work on the day this class is, and now, I can make it, but very, very, VERY late.

Well, I decided it would just be best to get someone to cover for me, so that they can get all the help they need, and if I really couldn't find someone, I would just have to come in late.

So, I asked everyone I could, and my friend told me she would get back to me, but was pretty sure she could unless she was going out of town that day, she wasn't sure yet.

Well, I had texted this girl, who I had taken the shift for, early yesterday morning, and she has yet to send me ANY kind of reply.

The reason why I'm getting a little pissed, is because she is literally on her phone 24/7. She has her eyes glued to the thing. It is very odd for her to not reply at all.

I honestly think she's just ignoring me. I am fairly positive she doesn't like me. I don't know why, because I'm nothing but nice to her. Maybe it's because when she was training me, she refused to actually train me and kept giving me the same crappy excuse as "Oh, you need to learn your own routine for that" instead of showing me what to do. I finally had it and told her I wouldn't learn if she didn't tell me. I was nice about it, though. But she's a b**** in general, so she probably didn't like it.

But, I really don't know what to do with her...

And then, there is this other girl. She started a few weeks after I did, and she's a year YOUNGER than me. She is a total b**** too and a control freak.

If I mess up one tiny thing, she acts as if she's my boss and tries to tell me what to do. If she doesn't think I'm doing something right, she is really rude to me and tells me to do something for her.

I am at my wits end with her, because she is constantly doing this and I know one of these days I'm just going to be unable to help myself and snap back at her.

So! I have only had one job, and there were two people there I did not like, but I could never figure out how to properly handle the situation in a good way...

Any thoughts?

I have made a... Somewhat immature and kind of b****y decision. But honestly? I do not care. I am tired of this girl taking me for granted. I have covered for her before, but yet, the first time I ask her to cover for me? She is ignoring me. I talked to my friend, and my friend said she probably just doesnt' want to work, so she isn't texting me back.

Well, any mature adult would know that you don't just "IGNORE" The message. You would reply and say "I'm sorry, I cannot take your shift for you."

So, if she's going to act like an immature child (when she's a few years older than me) then I will too. I am tired of her taking me for granted, so she's getting a taste of her own medicine.

If she needs someone to cover for her, I am not going to do it. I have covered for others and I will continue to do so, but for her? It's not going to happen. Unless she actually covers for me sometime.

I know it's immature, but really? I could care less at this point. I am not going to let someone walk all over me like that. It's not going to happen.

What goes around comes around Hydro... I'm betting you aren't the only one she's burning bridges with. She's going to need someone to cover her shift sooner or later too. You'll ignore her like she did you.

Thanks! That's exactly what I'm thinking I'm going to do. I figure it's fair, after all. If she ignores me, then I have every right to ignore her. However, since I am apparently more mature than her, I will be nice enough and mature enough to at least respond back, so I don't lose my good reputation.

I know this isn't the main point of your post, but you have stressed age twice. Once you become an adult a difference in age is meaningless. The older you get the more likely your boss will be younger than you.

perhaps you are being too nice to everyone ... its wrong dear ... i actually hate my parents for telling me to be nice to everyone,to be friendly ...

have you seen "i am not paid to be nice with you" written on someones t shirt .. when i saw it, i was like confused why would somebody write such thing ...but when you get older you will understand .... people are selfish ...

I don't think I'm too nice... I have been, not mean, but... I don't know how to explain it. However, I did hear back from her, so she either decided to stop ignoring me or she just didn't get the text until later.
