I have a bad case of TMJ. To manage my pain I take 1 Flexeril at night every night.

My Pdoc does not like this and he keeps saying that he wishes I wouldn't take it. He never says WHY though? Does it affect the way BP meds work or does it just affect your mind/mood in general?

He says he wishes my doctor would give me something else but he offers me no advice on something else that might work. My Pdoc is a psychiatrist and neurologist so surely he knows how to treat headaches right?

I had severe cluster migrains for my whole life until about 2 years ago. I ended up in the Emergency room several times before imetrix was available at drugstores, but it also messed my head up. The last time i was in the hospital the new doc gave me propanolol a heart medication, but he said surveys showed that propanolol was being used for migrains now and i haven't had a full fledged migraine since i started it. I am also on several other types of meds too but i was on them already so i just figured it must be the propanoll. I also found out i have ms and epilepsy, Had 3 seizures in the hospital and was pronounced dead 3 times too, after I guess i don't know as i don't remember it except i was at peace finally. Then they put me on Depacote which probably helped with the headaches too.avlady

When I lost my Health insurance and wasn't able to see my Primary care doctor anymore my Pdoc took over writing my scripts for Flexeril.

Maybe you should point blank ask your Pdoc why he wants you to stop taking it.

Good luck

I agree. Ask him what he thinks is wrong with taking it and what alternatives there are. I've taken it when I was having muscle tightness. I wasn't too impressed. I seem to remember that these relaxers can have undesireable side effects. At any rate, I stopped taking it before my prescription was finished.

My pdoc and primary care doc work together on my meds. I also have chronic pain syndrome and desperately need a muscle relaxer along with all my other meds. Flexeril never helped at all for me. I take Soma and it helps alot. Might your doctor change you to this one?

I take Flexeril because it is the smallest size muscle relaxer you can get. I have had bariatric surgery so I can't swallow large pills. I was taking Robaxin but its way too big for me to swallow now.
