This doesn't even make sense. Just saw it on Facebook.

Do people know what bipolar means?

I've found that a lot of people think bipolar is schizophrenic.

Point is , People who don't have bipolar or know someone are mostly clueless. But in all fairness.. If someone hasn't been around anyone with Bipolar.... why would they even worry or need to be informed ?

It was several years after I was diagnosed until I accepted that I was really bipolar because I don't usually have mood swings but I have energy swings and my sleep can vary from three hours or sleep for eighteen hours and I get all confused when I awaken not knowing what day it is or whether it is 6am or 6pm until I check my computer.

Jist of this cartoon.

To "normals" OCD = germiphobe, clean freak, everything must be organized exactly all the time.

AND

Bipolar = shifting moods from depressed and worthless to overactive and "crazy"

So its saying " I have OCD so everything must be always clean and orderly. But I have bipolar so I also have mood swings. And today I'm not in the mood to clean, so even though I'm OCD and everything must be always clean, I don't feel like cleaning today."

Ignorant? yes.
Humorous? yes

I thought it was kinda cute.

The only time that I get a little hot under the collar is when people toss the term "bipolar" around casually, like I heard a teenager the other day say to her friend, "Gawd, Emily, is it Shark Week or something? You're acting all bipolar!" Yes, I know it comes from ignorance and I'm not going to educate the world. But it IS irritating.

At first I was offended by my confusion but now I find it really funny.

The joke is that she obviously is neither of the two. I think it may be a gag based on how easily the words are thrown around. A similar example of ridiculous labeling would be like saying you've been anorexic all night since dinner. The eCard is just ridiculous and not a stab at mental illness.

Speaking of throwing the word bipolar around: I've heard Ohio's weather described as being bipolar (as I'm sure most other states have) but this week I now firmly believe that Ohio can't make up it's mind: Single digits yesterday, 70's today, forecast raging storms tomorrow with snow on Thursday.

Rapid Cycler if there ever was one.
