so I have two dogs. one of them, Tilly, follows me around everywhere. she would walk through fire to be at my side. I have had her for a little more than a year.

I don't sit down with her much or pet her too much anymore. Usually I am just caught up with everything going through my head to really give her any attention.

Well, I was wondering why she still followed me around. and duh! it reminded me of when we first got her. When I first got her. It was a special time for her and me. she was afraid of men, having been abused and left outside all of the time. When I first met her, I coaxed her out of her shell by sitting down with food and just letting her be her.

I had totally forgotten about that.
i had moved on from that.
But obviously Tilly never did!
does she still remember that?
Why hasn't she moved on from that?

Made me think of how many times I do that with people too....
get used to a situation and then just take it for granted....
never really thinking of the reason that I am friends with them in the first place...
overlooking all of the special times and memories.....

all locked away in the back of my head....

I think I just learned a lesson from my Tilly.

Dan, I think you are my favorite person this morning.

Twice in the last little while I've been inspired by you.

Thank you

Wow that made me tear up. Of course he remembers and she also may be sensitive to your situation and there to lend support my dog was like that when I had a rough time he would lay righ next to me for hours and not leave me to even eat. Dogs are very special critters.

Nope, dogs don't forget when someone's shown them love, that made you her family, her pack, her tribe.
Dogs are awesome, I now realize I don't pet my dog enough, and he loves me and is so loyal. Thanks for the reminder.

My dog "Sirius" is literally attached to my hip. He is often the only one that can pull me out of some of my dark places.

I wish I was more like my dog. She seems to have life figured out, and is not afraid to be herself either. Yep! I wish I was more like my dog.
