Hi everyone

No change in my meds, and stress is pretty steady, but unrelated to this.

I have noticed, maybe in the last year, that I can get over emotional listening to a song/music video.

I'm sitting here at work listening to a song and watching the music video for a minute, and I start welling up. I understand that it's normal to have emotion when there is something attached to the song (a breakup, other mental reminder s) -- but this almost seems to be of happiness because I am not sad.

Great example - the song Save the World by Swedish House Mafia...
The music video is about dogs saving people when they are in trouble (check it out on youtube if you like dogs). It's dramatic, has some emotion, and the songs fits well with the video.

Never fails, I will start tearing up at the least, sometimes just hearing the song without the video. It's almost as if I have a reaction to something my mind thinks is beautiful. I'm not happy, or sad necessarily, but my tears just bust out. It's embarrassing sometimes.

My sister is also BP and she said she gets that way sometimes too.
Is this common? I can't quite put my finger on it, I am always trying to correlate.

Thanks
Nick

Yes, I tend to be on the emotional side of things. Happy or sad. I don't know if it is a bipolar thing or just me. I'm rather an emotional person anyway. I cry pretty easily for songs or movies.

I'm like that my whole life. I hope you will get ok with it and know it's not a flaw, I think it's beautiful.

I'd have to agree- I am also very emotional. Music does it to me ALL the time. Plus, I am a music head and I am very appreciative of people being transparent and sharing the music with the world when it is so personal. Yup. Embrace that, I think.

I get that way alot a simple song can turn me in to a babbleing cry baby. But it's all personal maybe you are making connections with something or the sheer beauty of something's can make anyone emotional. Hang in there and sometimes you just need a good cry.

I'm like that all the time, always have been. I think it's ok tho, I think for me it is just having my heart on the outside. I've grown very comfortable to be so emotional. If we are going to be emotional about truly sad things why not be emotional over truly beautiful things.

I don't know if it is a bipolar thing, or just a sensitive soul thing, I know other people like this who are not bipolar. My bf even is like this, and he is mentally well,, but he is sensitive and has a lot of heart.

Thanks for the words

I am thankful that I am able to feel the appreciation that I do for certain things in life. No one else would quite get it though, which doesn't make a difference except when you try to explain why you are misty, ha.

I am a goober over dog stuff, so I will get emotional over that, that's a given.

I guess it the emotions feel strange sometimes, although other times I do recognize that my mind is embracing something beautiful and I am thankful that I can have that type of insight.

If anyone is curious, and perhaps like minded to me, you may truly enjoy this music video (this is the one that gets me going every time) -- I just see a deeper meaning in the dog/human relationship with this vid.

Anyhow, thanks for the words and I am glad I'm not alone.

Of course emotions feel strange they can be unnatural. Emotions are like little blocks of odd. So I know for me with those little boxes are open it can be hard to explain nd even more difficult to del with. Hang in there we are here for you.
