I have a daughter who will call occasionally asking for some help with just anything she might be thinking about.

She knows that I like to sew(simple things), so when she had
the appropriate project she called one day and said, "Mom, fire up
the sewing machine". She knew unconsciously that I needed a little
tension relief.

I don't remember the project, but it brings a strong image to my mind of thinking in positive ways.

I always used sewing as a relief from tension.

Some of you knit and make beautiful things to share with family members and friends. I always wished that I could learn that skill because it can be so helpful to others and really cuts the tension
loose when things aren't going smoothly.

I just gave it up because I felt that, from the way the project looked, I just had too much tension going on and released it all, making a mess.

Never could learn to crochet, either, but watched my mother make lovely bath mats from the "hosiery mills" end pieces of cotton stockings. (That was before your time, of course.) She would put my sister and me in competition to see who could tie them together for the biggest ball in the shortest length of time.

It took me years to understand that it's okay to compete and okay not to compete. That was an enlightening moment.

The secret of the removal of tension from our lives is a great gift
from God, it seems to me, in bipolar illness. If we can make it
of benefit to someone, it's worth the effort.

lol, Morethingswrong. I believe you have creativity that you may not be aware of.
Ask yourself what you like to do most in life? That's a clue, I think.

Thanks.

Sewing is cool but requires much prep work and supplies. I miss my crochet and playing guitar, both are therapeutic. I still draw and write poetry sometimes.

Haven't been online in several days because the "sewing machines are fired up and
blazing away" both here at my home and at my daughter's home.

She took one sewing lesson from me and is making her daughter's clothes, her son's clothes, her husband's clothes, and I think she'll be starting some of her own. Wow!
(I've been sewing off and on for thirty-five years and have never been able to sew
for a man--just for my daughter and myself. I'm silent when she calls to tell me her
husband is wearing the pajamas!)

I just finished a little outfit that I'll be giving my granddaughter soon. I slaved for
two days, but it's ready and wearable for the little girl. (But I'm better at this than
at knitting, I must say! That was a disaster!)

So much tension is relieved during sewing for me. It's a hobby that I enjoy so much.

Missed you all but will try to step in a few times to offer help where I might be able
to.

I've about "tensioned out". I know you know what I mean.

Take care; hope you all are fine and happy campers!
