what I know now is withdrawal...
escaping within myself. just like I described in my rage thread, directing everything inward. hmmmmm... it sounds like a scared reaction now that I type it. I really don't know what else is really practical and that would actually work. |

Okay, so... when I first came here I made a thread in the bipolar success area where I said I didn't go back to a website that kicked me out and didn't go off on them. That was a huge success for me. And, I've never gone back there, and the rage went away...
So, the first step is sometimes in-action. Being, I did something else to distract myself and didn't take the action that I was extremely driven to. I am saying this is very hard, I am still working on this. But, I recall that time and still consider it a sucess to model myself after it when it happens again. And it's my success, not someone elses. So, I have confidance that I can do it again. I didn't internalize what happened. I was extremely angry at that place, and hurt by what they said when they kicked me. But, I was able to digest it somehow and drop it by distracting myself and refusing to give in to the drive to go back on the attack. This is just a suggested idea for a strategy. Turn the anger into fuel for another project or something....

makes sense. having a 'standby' project or something that i can do only when i am that upset, to put my energy into. I'll really put a lot of thought into creating a standby.

I try to wait a day before I react to things that upset me. (Generally) The hardest thing to do is to take a step back, but its often easier to think more clearly about the subject when you don't react right away.
If you post a topic (directly related to) after said topic has died down a little, you're more likely to get relive the anxiety of the topic and attract those who upset you.

I am now practicing this: “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” for my anxiety.
