Hello all I'm sitting here contemplating cutting again. Idk why I just am. I'm not depressed and I've been quite up beat in fact, other than my other way I feel lately. I wonder what do you do to keep from self injury? I'm just tempted not going to do it though just wondering how to get this thought out of me head.
Thanks

Distract yourself with something, a puzzle, read, exercise, etc.

Have you determined WHY you feel the urge to do these things?

Ask yourself: What does cutting do for me that makes it so tempting?

Then find a non-destructive activity that gives you the same effect.

For example, whenever I feel angered by someone or the urge to hurt someone, I find a bug and squash it, visualizing myself squashing the individual that has me agitated. Or I write nasty notes to them, then tear the notes up.

Well cutting relieves anxiety it helps me focus on one thing, you focus on the action and the blood that trickles out and the sting. I dont have anything that relieves me more. That I can think of at least.

Clinte , try holding onto Ice cubes, you get the stinging pain and "dripping" just in a non harmful way. It has worked for me in the past.

Where do you think you want to cut yourself? Look at that spot and see if you can try to love that spot, to care for it. You are going to hurt the spot if you do it. The spot is also human. The spot is going to be traumatized if you do it. You won't want to traumatized it, right?

That is not you, right? You are a considerate person. You are.
Thanks for this!
