Well my dad keeps saying I need more ect like a f**king broken record. I know I'm having some issues right now but I feel they will pass soon and med changes take a while to take hold.

He says I think it's time for ect well at the cost of 450 per it adds up quick and they expect me to be able to afford to pay it or pay them back some how! I'm on disability I'm not rich.

How can I get him to understand first it's to expensive at this point and I don't think it's needed because I'm not depressed and I'm not manic. So why would he keep saying that. Oh well rant over.

Can you tell him you'll talk about it with pdoc? Then tell pdoc it's to expensive.

Okay so maybe you have had a bit of a bump in the road recently. Hell everyone does Bipolar or not ( I wish the non Bipolar folks would remember that**sigh**)

If you feel you are doing okay and want to let the med change have time to work, then you should. Have you spoke to your Pdoc about it? and your concern over cost? and just the whole ect treatments?

I'm sorry you are being pressured into possibly making a decision based on what your dad is thinking.

hang in there.

Just tell him you can't afford it right now. Then hang around someone else for a while. Someone positive.

I agree tell him you've had a bump in the road but everyone has those. And I also agree he needs to understand that ECT is for emergency and last restort when nothing else is helping. And, you've been up and down but not the way you were before. Do tell your pdoc you can't afford it every time you have a minor cycle. And then, perhaps have your pdoc explain that to your dad.

I know from experience that my dad won't listen to me, because in his eyes I'm still just a little girl. But if a doctor tells him the exact same thing, oh well then it's gospel truth. (And he won't give me credit for having known it first. )

I think also give your dad some time. At least he cares even if it's annoying the way he's trying to show you.

By accepting the fact the he cares and you have someone normal who cares for you and appreciating that care can make it less annoying, I think.

He James. And I suppose your right dm. I Know they care but being asked everyday if you need more ect can make you feel, well not normal. I just wanna be normal and if you keep bringing up its hard to feel normal.

why do regular people ask if we are ok?

makes me want to go completely un-ok on them...

but likely someone else will just ask it again!

this is why I got a bad attitude...

mischievous James...

can't help it mate

I want to break arms and emotional legs...

but they just keep comin'

asking the same stupid dumbass question

are you ok?

I freaking never ask nobody this!...

cos they always tell me anyway!

Try figuring a way out to win him over, so that he only mention it occasionally when he is concerned about you. You can't stop him from being concern about you. He has every right to love you, you know.
