So, I have to get into my psychiatrist as soon as possible. I have been having trouble staying awake, and I fall asleep at random times. My doctor thought it sounded like a type of seizure and it happens a lot now, and it happens when I am driving.

My mom would brush it off as just falling asleep and not getting enough sleep but she doesn't seem to understand that I get about 8 to 10 hours of sleep regularly. I am ALWAYS tired. it happened before I got on a medication that makes me tired.

So, I need to figure out what's going on... Someone has said it sounds like narcolepsy, but I really don't know.

It's really stressful, though, and scary to happen while I"m driving. I'll be fine one minute, then the next, I am not.

I don't know much about narcolepsy but if you're falling asleep while in the middle of an activity then it is definatley a reason to get in to the doctor. I don't know you may need to see a neurologist for that one. And good to get in ASAP if you fall asleep while driving.

Yeah, I fall asleep in the middle of an activity. I used to fall asleep in gym class too. It was awful. It started about two years ago and its getting worse. I don't know if it would be narcolepsy though, because that seems like it happens randomly, but I've noticed a pattern... But I really do think I need to get checked out.

Please stop driving. It's dangerous to you and everyone else on the road. Get help for it now.
Thanks for this!

I can't! I wish I could! My mom isn't letting me give it up! I told her before that it's really dangerous and this happens, but they won't drive me. I have to get to school somehow, I can't miss it. I don't have anyone else to take me.

You need to see a doctor ASAP . As far as driving ,, Ugh ... You have to take into consideration if you cause an accident you could injure or worse anyone on the road. That would be something hard to handle. I black out once went off and embankment and went flying off a 6 foot drop off and hit the ground so hard that jerked me awake. I was so grateful I did not harm anyone but myself.. I got lucky.

See and Doctor and take care of you

I can't. I have no other way to get to school. I asked htem and my mom works and so does my dad. There's no way to do it.

But yes, I think I get to go to the doctor soon. I hope... I don't know.

Bike..walk..take the bus..there has to be something else. It ia really not good to be driving like this. You could litterally kill someone or yourself. It is comparible to drinking and driving.

I understand that other options might be more difficult. But nothing will be more difficult than if aomething really bad happens. If you fall aslepp and hit a pedestrian they won't stand much chance. My son was ran over by an suv when he was 7, they were awake and not driving crazy or anything. Accidents happen and much more likely when you are operating a vehicle and lose consciousness.

When the ran over my son they didnt even relize they hit him and they stppoed the suv with the tires still on his legs. That is how even a person who is awake might not even realize what they did. I litterally had to punch the passenger side window so they would realize and not keep pulling forward over his head. It is really serious. I hope you see that it is. There has to be a different way for you to get to school.
