Did you ever get headaches or nausea because of it?
I'm slowly upping my dosage and am at 200mg now. I'm just wondering if it could be the cause of my nausea every day and increased headaches.

I know they are listed as side effects. I kind of wish my dr had mentioned it, he just told me to let him know asap if I got a rash. I was only taking 25mg for the longest time and then he told me to increase it because I was still having issues. I'm planning on going to the clinic today to see if I can find out what's going on.

my pdoc split up my doses to 100 at night and 100 when I wake up. it works soooo much better this way for me. you might suggest it, only having 100 at a time. it might lessen the side effects.

Yes. I take 300 per day of the Lamictal. It gave me absolutely excruciating headaches. I take Topamax to stop the headaches and it has been very effect with eliminating them (but topamax has its own very significant set of side effects- I'm just willing to put up with them.) There are a number of medication available to deal with the headaches if it ends up being a long-term problem but you find the lamictal is otherwise doing the job. Ask your pdoc about it.

I guess different people's bodies react differently to meds...I'm on 250mg & have never had any ill effects. I hope you are able to get relief from the headaches & nausea, as I've had really good luck with lamictal.

I was very agitated on high-dose Lamictal. My psych tapered me down to 100mg and I'm doing okay now.

I never had any bad side effects from lamictal which is why I like it but different people have different affects from it. Maybe your just sensitive to meds maybe give it some time.

Well I'm not even sure it's the Lamactal that is causing it, I was just thinking it could be. I am going to the afterhours clinic tonight to see if they can figure it out.

I had nausea and headaches while I was titrating up. Once I settled into my final dosage, the side effects did go away after a couple of weeks.

Are you eating food with the medication?

I have never had any side effect problem but I also worked my way up to 200mg over a few months, very slowly.

I had mild headaches each time I ramped up my dosage, but they were never disabling and they went away within a couple of days.

I also take mine in divided doses, 100 mg in the AM and 150 in the PM. Don't know if that makes a difference but I tolerate Lamictal very well, and it works for the most part.

My dr said to go down to 150mg to see if the nausea goes away. If it doesn't help, I will probably try 100mg in the am and 100mg at night.

Neither myself (100 mg.) or my husband (200 mg) have had this side-effect. I do get nausea from my AD. I take my meds at night to help with side-effects.

I'm on 200mg and haven't had any problems. Lamictal has actually been one of the easier meds for me as far as side effects go. I'm VERY sensitive to medications. I've had everything from rashes, vomiting, almost passing out, etc from various meds I've tried in the past.

Ugh, yes on the headaches. I take it at night and at seems to help since most of my headache is during sleep. By noon it's lessened to a dull pissy ache. It was the worst at 75 to 100mg. Now I'm at 200, the headaches aren't as bad. I think they are suppose to go away as you adjust to the meds. If not, I'd talk about getting a new med.

Do you find that topomax gives you a boost of energy as well as working as an appetite suppressant?

I was on it and my doc wanted me off it due to the cognitive side effects...memory loss etc. I read up on this a while back and heard testimonies of people having significant cognitive side effects. Has this been an issue for you? I was given it in the hospital when i was i put on lithium for first time. Doc gave it to counteract the lithium's appetite/weight gain issue which was a concern of mine due to gaining a lot of weight in the past while i was on depakote. I don't know if it was just me, but i did feel a little energy boost from the topomax as well. Now that i'm off it and only on lithium and lamictal, i feel constant fatigue and in a daze. No energy what so ever ----which is a big lithium side effect. Totally sucks so bad. Lithium was the only thing that worked during this recent hospitalization for depressive episode, but this lethargy really effects my quality of life. These trade offs suck. Now i'm hungry just talking about the side effects. I hope i dont gain another 80 lbs from these infernal meds. sighhhh
