Have been wanting to try lithium for a while and p-doc put me on it today (450mg) He also dropped the risperdal from 2 to 1mg which is what I wanted(bc of lethargy) and increased lexapro from 30 to 40 for ocd. Pray it works out for me!

Risperdal gave me lethargy as well.

Lithium will be increased - 450 mg cannot be a therapeutic dose, as far as I know.

Well that's good congratulations. It seems like a good doctor if he/she listens to you.

Just give it a chance. Turned out recently I wasn't giving a new dosage of my meds a chance.

Mania or hypomanias.

Low dose lithium is good for depression but you need roughly double the dose to treat manias or hypomanias. The exact dose is worked out by blood levels. And you need to monitor your thyroid and kidney function every 3 months or so. Lithium really helped both my depression and hypomanias but I put on weight with it.
Hope it works well for you.
