So I had my preliminary hearing for DUI yesterday, sort of. LOL

I was waiting in the parking lot and no cops were there yet, so I got a glimpse of hope that the cop would not show up.

No sooner was I done thinking that, two squad cars pull up, one with a passenger in the back to be arraigned. And wouldn't you know it, they are the two officers who arrested me that night. When I went inside they were talking about how the lady was really crazy. I thought to myself, "She's actually perty coherent compared to where I have been before." LOL

So I go in, but my lawyer has yet to arrive. The cop asked if I was there for a hearing. I said I was so he asked the receptionist what case I was. Realizing I was his case he turned to me and said, "You look a little different than the night you wrecked." I thought to myself, "Yea, I've lost 30 pounds and my jacket and pants have pin stripes instead of reflective ones." LOL

Then a woman shows up and says she's from my lawyers office. I assumed her to be my lawyer's associated whom he said might come in his place. She went in the courtroom with the cop. When she came out she asked if I liked the idea of waiving the hearing if they dropped 3 of the charges. I did like that idea so she told the cop we would take that deal.

Several minutes later the magistrate appeared at the receptionist's window with paperwork. He said we didnt have to go in the courtroom with the "crazy" lady. So I signed all the paperwork out in the lobby and agreed to a $2500 unsecured bond.

So now gotta wait another month for the arraignment. All I really know is I'm down to 2 charges: DUI and disregard of a traffic lane, and I won't get a lifetime ban on my CDL.

Turns out my lawyer's associate was 26. We talked a while afterwards and she seemed like she really knew her stuff. Def. glad I got a lawyer.
