I'm no longer in a manic psychosis but I'm far from stable. Is it possible to spike back up before crashing? As much as I don't want to accept it I see an AP in my not so near future. I've avoided it for years. I take aterax as needed for anxiety, sleep and to "slow down". Is there an AP that can be taken as needed?

I think all APs were intended to be taken that way.

I take more seroquel and lithium during episodes and go down when Im 'stable'
Thanks for this!

It is possible .. I have Haldol ( yes old school med) When my hallucinations get to real and I can't ignore them I take the haldol . I take it for a few days up to a week but no more than that.

It's weight neutral which is a HUGE issue for me. I do have to take Inderal at times along with it .. But its Okay when I am just a mess. It helps quickly.

I have no idea but I hope you can find some level ground at least for a little while. Hoping no crashes or spikes for you for a while.

Zyprexa, most certainly, but beware of weight gain after even a few days.
Thanks for this!

Zyprexa is pretty much the go-to med for manic episodes where my pdoc practices, but staying on it (as I did for several months) is not good for the waistline. It also sucks to be a diabetic on Z because it does horrible things to blood sugar control. Where I work, however, we often use PRN Seroquel, which seems to be helpful.
