So I'm feeling like I'm on too many meds. Idk, I don't feel zombiefied, but I hate needing a sleep med, a AD, AP, mood stabalizer. This is why I hate having this disorder. I'm finally stabilizing so I KNOW I shouldn't mess with them now. I can later. Sorry just thinkin' out loud. I'm gonna hug myself haha.

Next time you see pdoc. Why don't you see what meds you can combined down to 2x a day. AKA do you need a sleep aid if you take all 3mg of risperdal at night. is sleep meds needed every night? What is causing the TD and find something that doesn't.

If I took all risperdal at once I would have bad TD. Right now I'm not taking congentin. Yes I need sleep aid every night. I think for now I will leave alone until I'm at therapeutic dose of lamictal.

The problem is I have only met with an emergency pdoc. I see the next one on the 19th. I'm thinking low dose of latuda but then I will definitely need to take the congentin. But I won't have the munchies as bad hopefully. I'll figure it out. Thanks though.

I think maybe, Passionskyy, you may have been given prescriptions intended to be just for immediate relief, not for long-term use by the emergency psychiatrist.
You should not be taking medications that leave you feeling like a Zombie. The aim is to get you chemically stable (and you're right about holding on until your Lamictal is up to the proper dosage) and then you may need to make some changes in your diet to keep yourself at best nutritional levels. These medications take their happy share of nutritional stores in being metabolized, so do all you can to keep your meds at a minimum level for effectiveness and watch your diet. (Keep things on the alkaline side than the acidic side for best feeling tone, please.) See alkalinefoods.com or http://www.Acid-reactingfoods.com Sometimes, when acidic levels of fluids and tissues get too burdensome, squeezing a couple of lemons into about 8 oz of water and drinking it reduces the acidic ash of meds. (All medications are digested leaving an acidic residue-or ash.) If you don't feel better in 4 hours, repeat the process. It works for some of us; it might be helpful for you, too. Take care and discuss how you feel with the psychiatrist you'll be seeing in a few days. |

I would not worry about your sleep aid. Amitriptyline is a very old, well-tested, and safe medication. It helps you sleep, relaxes your muscles, and, in my case, does help a little bit to prevent migraines. All without any side effects. I probably will be on it for the rest of my life, even if I drop all the other meds. I would just try to find a lower dosage that helps, if I were you. But even that is not a rush.

In other words, if we were to rank your current meds in terms of their potential for bad side effects, chemical dependency, etc., from most dangerous to least dangerous, then Amitriptyline would be on the very bottom of the list.

Hopefully when you see the Pdoc you can review your medications .. Its very easy to wind up kind of over loaded on too many meds.
Once medications are figured out and your feeling better, at that point you can put work into coping skills and ways to just help yourself in other ways and possibility reduce the amount of meds you need . Just a thought , Hope you get to feeling better soon ![]()
