My usual doctor is away so I decided to go see a different one in order to get a referral to a pdoc that has been highly recommended. Anyhow, I've been at breaking point for a few weeks now, probably longer and my moods all over the place. Medication hasn't been helping and my old doc just told me to stop taking the Prozac and have Seroquel.

This doctor was horrible. So rude and didn't even listen to me. Basically just told me to get notes from my old doctor and he'll give me a referral if I like. Way to make me feel like a piece of crap. You wouldn't think docs would be able to be that way. Especially when the patient is saying they've been suicidal, feel detached etc.

Guess I'm just venting. Have to wait 3 weeks to see a pdoc. No idea what to do in the meantime, I still have Seroquel so I should probably take it.

Not at all unfortunately. A good 10 years... Just seems from one doc to the next, then them giving up or just pushing me out the door with a prescription.

At least this psychiatrist has come highly recommended. Gives me some hope.

I can't get in any earlier than 3 weeks

The normal doc just said I've got enough meds to get me through and more or less sent me away. That doesn't help me much. I've had to go off the Prozac cold turkey, which is fine @ day 3. Going to take my Seroquel again tonight and just try and make it through. Distractions, anything really.

That's exactly what I'm thinking is the best idea. There's so many people here that are going through similar things, the support is helpful I've been a member for so many years but haven't been that active unless things get really bad. Which makes me feel like a bad person. Can't win lol.

Not all are, but plenty I've seen are. And friends etc. Is your father a doc? Or am I missing something? My mind isn't exactly with the program entirely tonight

While you're waiting, Nichole, try the "lemon thing". (You know, squeeze a lemon or
two into a glass of about 8 oz. of purified water. Drink it, please. If you don't feel
calmer in 4 hours, repeat the process; that should calm you down as much as you wish.

The understanding behind using the lemon is that, while it tastes very bitter--and it
is high in citric acid--it is digested as one of the most alkaline foods we can ingest.

If the fluids and tissues of the body are kept at a slightly more alkaline state than an acidic one, the feeling tone is much calmer, and the emotions aren't so easily triggered.

You might wish to try it; some of us have had success with it, and I use it occasionally when I'm irritated or upset.

Let us know how you get along, please.

I find that most Drs. want to keep a distance or solid boundary or they hate their jobs completely. I finally found one after 25 yrs that listens very well, great conversationalist, smart, etc. And lots of Drs. don't get lots of things that you tell them with respect to your mood disorder. After a while they start to think that your problem is partially psycho-somatic and it's completely frustrating. ie. I'm tired a lot and spend a lot of time in bed because my constant agitation and/or irritability totally drains me and my Dr. is not 100% on-board with that I think. I swim 4-7 days/wk and get energy from that but the agitation returns for no reason and completely slows me down.

doctors can really suck like that

i remember the first one i ever saw, had no idea.. it was like he was clueless- had no idea what was going on

took me about 4 to find a good one- well, i say good... my current one's a nightmare, but compared to the others, not that bad

I think this one hates his job by the sound of it. It's rare to find any that are good and I sure hope the pdoc that I'm going to see is as good as she's been recommended to me to be. If that made sense lol. I'm in bed a lot of the time recently too, it's like they just think we make it all up and are lazy etc. I wanted to kick him in the face tbh.

Yeah it takes awhile My normal one is ok, no clue on meds but at least kind of listens to me. This one just basically said I need to see a psychologist and that meds aren't the answer... Some 'holistic' approach.
