I finally got a new job, which is great, but change triggers me. This time it put me into a bad manic phase... I cant sleep I'm in paralyzing anxiety. Im so scared and I feel weak, I was doing good for so long, I dont want a setback.
How does everyone else deal with their mania? Thank you ![]() |

Well, I would call my therapist and/or my psychiatrist and tell him/her what was happening!

Kick back and enjoy the ride.......that's what I usually do.
![]() Obviously, that's NOT the right answer, the smart thing to do is let your pdoc know what's going on so s/he can help you come down before things get out of control. Don't be like me and love your mania too much......that's when we BPers do the most damage. When we're depressed, we don't have the energy to get into much trouble, but when we're soaring like an eagle, we're apt to get sucked into a jet engine! Take care of yourself, OK?

I am guilty for enjoying it too. then I do really stupid things that get me into trouble. Ask your Pdoc what you can do. I also ask my husband to keep an eye on me during those times so that i dont make bad decisions.

Congratulations on the new job! For me, an event like this makes me hypomanic, and I don't get the soaring high feeling. The lack of sleep leaves me feeling desperate and I sometimes make foolish decisions.
Like Tilly may, I ask my husband or good friend to keep an eye on me. I am not worried about doing something foolish in public. It is just that I get much louder and obnoxious without realizing it. My advice is to talk to your pdoc in order to get meds to help you sleep, even if it is only temporary. Sleep is the key to feeling healthy and able to handle the new job. Good luck! Bluemountains |

Meanwhile, I'd contact your Pdoc and see if he/she can help you with your anxiety and mania. I find the quicker these things are nipped in the bud the better, before it gets out of control. Please seek help? And congratulations on your new job! |
