Several posts recently have talked about how difficult it is to have insomnia and to try to make it through the day not having had good rest the night before.

Finding out about the Omega 3 fatty acids was the biggest help I had at all in learning what to do about insomnia. I really like the Omega 3 fatty acids manufactured by Nordic, but there are many brands out there that are effective. Nordic just seems to have a very pleasant lemony flavor (no fish oil flavor at all).

If you're interested, begin by taking 3 about an hour before bedtime or even as close as 30 minutes before bedtime if you're planning on reading a little before you get to sleep. I wouldn't stop the Clonazepam (or Klonopin) or any other prescribed medication until you begin to recognize how effective the Omega 3's can be. Then, please talk to your psychiatrist about whether you need the benzos or other sleeping meds; that is, if you're having success with Omega 3's.

During the day, if you wish, it's harmless to take 2 more to help to maintain the calm, and at night just repeat the process. Once your body has become calm, cut back to 2 tablets per night. Nordic recommends 2 as a suggested daily intake, but I take considerably more because I seem to need that much. There are no ill side effects for me; maybe it will work for you; I hope so.

Watch the acidic state of your fluids and tissues. (Signals are irritability, anger, restlessness, and sleeplessness.) When that happens, increase your intake of the fatty acids again to 3 at least per day and try the "Lemon Thing" talked about here earlier. Stress is a notorious creator of acid for the fluids of the body.

As a post script: Citrus fruits have an alkalinizing effect on fluids and tissues; they are valuable in helping keeping a slightly alkaline state.

I hope it works for you; it stopped me from using Clonazepam because I wasn't gettng a full nght's sleep taking that and it could have become a habit very easily.

Take care.
Thanks for this!

It takes a while, Clint. Be sure you work on getting the acid-alkaline balance of tissues and fluids corrected so that the Omega 3's don't have such a hard job trying to keep a slightly more alkaline state in you fluids.

Using the "lemon thing" helps with that on occasion when you have symptoms of too much acidity. That usually works to get things under better control pretty quickly. Squeeze 2 fresh lemons into about 8 oz water. Drink it; if you don't feel better in 4 hours, repeat the process. That should do it for you; it does work for me and for some others.

I hope you do have good sleep with Seroquel. I've heard good things about that medication.

One person has communicated with me about this and she's been at it for a month but has not had good results yet. Hopefully, she will begin to feel them soon.

Using the Omega 3 fatty acids has been proven now to be helpful in bipolar illness. (They are used far more frequently in the Mediterranean diet than in the Western diet, so the U.S. is learning from neighbors about good things to use.

Take care of yourself.

Thanks Gen, I will definitely try it. I don't take them often enough. I have a big bottle of Nordic, but the gel caps are huge I don't like swallowing them. But I will just make myself do it until I have some extra money to buy the smaller kid size ones.

And I need to do the lemon thing more often. And get out my juicer and use it!

Since the flavor is not distasteful, why not just break them with your
teeth and swallow the liquid, discarding the casing? That's what I do
and it doesn't bother me.

I saw your post on another forum about the business side of things.
Sorry you're going through so much. Your sister hasn't made it any
easier for you, either. I do hope your attorney will find the way to
permit you to remain in your busness and recover. Your situation
is one that can really create an acidic problem... stress is a huge
builder of acidity.

Been thinking about you and hoping you'd be able to come back with
good news on the business, especially.

Thanks so much. Actually made up well with my sister, very happy about that, she means so much to me. Business may be ok, not sure yet, will know more in next couple weeks. Also made up with bf last night and he says I don't need to pay him back the $5k I owe him! Yay happy thank you more please!

I may try chewing the large capsule, did not like it before when I tried but will try again. It reminded me of when I drank castor oil to start labor with my first child cuz she was 3 weeks overdue and I was determined to stay natural and out of hospital. Egads that is some nasty tasting stuff, but was worth it, she was born healthy and natural with my midwife.

Yes stress is a killer for me. And I'm having some random anxiety at the moment, will go drink the lemons and take the Nordics now and maybe a shower would help too.
