My son has started taking an all natural supplement called REVxp and his anger is unbelievable, yet he insists on taking it. There are no warnings on the bottle for bipolar or mental illness of any kind. It contains many herbs and LOTS of caffeine. Could it be this supplement causing this?

Though the bottle may not have any warnings, many brands do,even some OTC cold medicines do,much of these type supplements/weight loss agents can most definately trigger hypomania to a full blown manic episode.
It is always important to ask the doc first before using any other meds, even OTC stuff.
Stimulants, rather prescription,OTC, even natural herbs, are always asked to be avoided or check with your pdoc.
Some people with Bipolar may be able to take things in this class, while other can be negatively affected.
There are different variations of Bipolar,it's not a one size fits all, nor are the meds prescribed.
Example, those with Bipolar-I,can go from depressed to manic, even violent.
Bipolar-II,tend to have more severe depression but milder manic episodes, termed hypomanic.
Though stimulants can trigger either form of mania,BP-I would most likely be at risk of having explosive, manic episodes, while BP-II, not as severe.
That isn't set in stone either, cause again, everyone is not alike.
I wish you lots of luck, and hope you'll find a way to convince your son, to not use the stimulant and contact his pdoc.
Take care,
DE

All that caffeine could ceratinly have a bad effect...plus if some of those herbs are things like guarana, those will zap you out, too...my therapist and I were talking just the other day about being careful with caffeine.

I hope your son feels better soon!

I took the liberty of looking the product up and found it contains 360mg of caffeine (and caffeine related stimulants) per dose. This is equivalent to approximately 6 large cups of strong coffee all at once. Dangerous stuff if you ask me. Frankly, I think all such magic fat loss crap, along with guarana "energy drinks" and their ilk should be heavily regulated, if not banned outright.

Incidentally, I snagged this link in my travels. You might find it interesting: http://www.dietfraud.com/Dietcraze/scams_nxcalorie.html

I don't claim to be impartial about this so I won't rant any further, but I but I don't see how that much caffeine could be healthy for anyone.

That much caffiene would make anyone nuts bipolar and sport/weightloss supplements Also if there is St John's Wart in it, it could be interfering with any antidepressants he is on.
