I am bipolar with manias that range from three months in duration of getting two hours of sleep a night or perhaps none at all. Needless to say I feel like crap. I tried psychiatric dose lithium and felt so flattened out I had to force myself to speak. I was wondering if natural elemental lithium at only 5mg compared to the 700mg of lithium I was forced onto before would be beneficial. Anyone had any experience with all natural elemental lithium at 5mg by Doctor's Best?

Elemental lithium is useless in bipolar illness. Lithium must be bound to
another substance in order for the brain to use it.

Lithium oratate is helpful. So is lithium bound to vitamin B 13. And it
is workable with lithium bound to aspartate.

I wouldn't use lithium in any other way than that prescribed by a psychiatrist, however, because lithium has the potential for being toxic for some people.

I dislike prescribed meds, too, but lithium is one I'd be very careful about
because over a long period or high dosage, it can cause closure of the tiny arteries in the kidneys, and there's nothing nephrologists can do about that.

Lithium functions in the system very much like calcium or zinc, but neither calcium nor zinc can substitute for lithium.

Calcium does, though, help in giving calming feelings, and it's very important in nerve functioning just as the whole series of Vitamin B is.
I'd consider taking vitamin C, the vitamin B series, calcium, and essential fatty acids before I'd go with an online product for lithium. In fact, a
high-quality multiple vitamin might do more for you than any product
for lithiium ordered online.

The best thing about correcting our diets is that it may enable us to lower
the dosage of medications prescribed by psychiatrists.

I took 10mg (doctors best) and felt it was helpful. This was before I took prescribed Lithium carbonate. Like Genetic said, I also am careful about taking omega 3's, B series, Mg citrate, and I eat pretty darn well (mostly). But, even with all that when I added the Lithium orotate...it just seemed to help take the edge off of anxiety and make me feel slightly more mello. I hope you have success with it, if you choose to take it. cheers Rainbow!
