If there's a lot of excitement around me or I get a fair amount of exercise, I get over stimulated and SUPER wired. Everything around me, and even my own actions, start to feel surreal. I wish I knew how to wind down.

Me too!!! I usually walk as exercise because if I go to the gym and work out to hard or hear all the blaring music, it wires me! Or, if I am just at a party and talking to someone and the conversation is interesting I get so excited my head and body feel like i am in a warp zone or something and it takes a lot out of me...i usually leave partys very tired as a result. I play it off though so nobody knows, which is probably not healthy. Either way...I have that same reaction to excitement. Let me know if you find the answer to eliminating this : ).

I can relate to both of you. In fact I try to avoid certain music or events out of fear they will get me too hype. I was also afraid that if I got too hype it would trigger a manic episode. IDK if that can happen.

It's good to know I'm not alone. I wish this didn't have to happen to any of us.

i think all of us bp's are never alike. i'm bp2, hypomanic, no depression. like you, loud music is a trigger and the 2 opening acts before seeing lady gaga wired me before her performance. i didn't sleep for 3 days. bright lights and the sounds of slot machines are another big trigger when going to vegas...again, no sleep for days unless heavily medicated. i take alot of spin classes and some music becomes very irritating to me and i must leave the class. i have no answers or solutions other than for me, i need quiet time to recover and fortnately i am able to make the most of quiet time. the older i get (in 60's) the more sensitive i've become to my surroundings. what a way to live.

Not 100% sure, but I believe bipolar is one of several types of mood disorders. Depression, borderline personality and bipolar amongst others...I think.
