It has become obvious that I will NOT have a position at ADT once my internship ends mid June. I'm not sure why, but suspect it has something to do with the chain of command changing drastically, as our HOD has resigned, and he was the one who was adamant he would be creating a Training Assistant post for me.
Sure there will be other positions available for the group of interns, but nothing I can do full-time without losing my mind and having another meltdown / breakdown 3 months in.

So I have been thinking and strategizing... I have decided that I want to work as a school secretary / administrator because the job is not too demanding, yet challenging, which means it's bipolar friendly and the hours and holiday schedule is single mother friendly. Which in turn means that moving out is a much more realistic goal as opposed to the pipe dream it is now...

My cousin (a school teacher) has suggested I do actual legwork and speak to different principals, as emailing my CV is not so smart since the recipient is the person I'm hoping to replace...

This is where the problem comes in... HTF am I supposed to do that? Firstly I don't have a car, but the bus is doable once they stop this stupid strike. Secondly, when will I have the time? Schools aren't open Saturdays or after my shift ends... Maybe I should just demand to work half days

So now I'm kinda discouraged, and kinda stressed. Only kinda, because I don't "feel" stressed, but the headaches and muscle tension speak volumes...

I honestly don't know what to do about this, I created a list of schools in all the neighboring areas I'm able to travel to, hoping they have websites with contact info or something... I came up blank so far. All I found are websites of a network of schools, per area. And I have no idea who the "contact us" link leads to.

Ugh, I don't feel like trying anymore, and Idk WHAT to try anymore either.
My brilliant idea has turned into a dud guess it's back to the drawing board for me folks

Holy cow, sis! How crazy is this?? My dream is to eventually be a school secretary! For exactly the same reasons! Have you been probing my brain?

I don't know how the schools work in your area. Here where I live, the schools are part of the county. And the county is in control of all the hiring. So, you have to go to the county web site and put in an application and then see if they contact you. When my job was in trouble I put in several applicatons wtih the county to try to get in. I'd really, really love to work at my son's school so that then before and after school he can just hang out while I work. And then when the baby starts pre-school in two years, it will be equally easy.

Dumbfounded Thanks alot, and regarding my profile pic, I actually don't know. I was searching images from the Animé series' that I am into, and none of the characters resonated with me. Then I just googled emo animé and luckily found this girl, she is so me

Thanks ShatteredSanity will definitly keep you guys in the loop.

DHX When it comes to us the simularites are just downright freaky aint it sis, but rest assured, I was not wondering around in your head

Will check out the council website, they do advertise vacancies, but they are not in charge of the hiring, and they're so slowwww to boot... I want to contact the schools directly.

Why not send your application and resume to the school board for the county in
which you live? That keeps you out of contact with anyone whom you might be
replacing and yet gives the board the opportunity to assign you where you might
fit in best. They could always refer you to one principal in a school which will
be needing additonal employees.

It's one way to manage it to avoid having to lose too many hours at work and
to limit your need to apply to many places.

Just a thought.

All I have to say is:
1. The title of your thread had me laughing (to use my daughters acronym LSHIF, must be the damn meds). Trippin2.0 you really are a trip
2. Best of luck with your job search & endeavors. The sense I get from you is that you will succeed one way or another

I live with a 6 year old boy. So the primary focus of conversation in my house is farting. He would like the idea of laughing so hard you fart.

Lmao! Jordan is always doing that! I should teach her that acronym!

ETA: I just let Jordan read what LSHIF means, and she has this comical look on her face, saying "hmmm that's me" Lmfao

I hate things are not working out
w/ ADT. I can tell from many of
your posts that ur strong, a survivor.
Generic's plan seems to be the most.
If you address the mail to the principal,
the assist would be opening it. I have
my fingers crossed for you.

Sending you hugs and prayers

Trippin I can so relate to you. I finished school last year for a medical tech. I have been volunteering and still am told by potential employers I don't have experience. I was a social worker prior.... and have previous medical experience as well..... That is ** state for ya.
I share your frustration... I hope you find something that is do able.

I actually did a few jobs (when I was already working a FT job) in NY where I got paid to critique certain establishments. It wasn't as a professional critique, but as your "average" consumer. The funnest one was at a bowling alley in Manhattan. We had to bowl & visit the bar to eat & drink. Then I would type up a rating & report. My friend got $200 to test certain beers. $200! I was so jealous because I was a raging alcoholic back then. I didn't fit the "middle class 30-35yo male criteria".

They have an ongoing research facility down here, but that's medical stuff, and I'm wary of being a guinea pig. I already feel like one trying to find a balance with my psych meds...

That's not the full time work one looks for, but those little jobs were fun.

I once was an assistant seamstress at a costume shop. I got it in my head that the business was going to fail and quit. LOL. Now it's the largest privately owned costume shop in the city.... Hurray for mania.

If you want to do things with wardrobe, costume shops are good places, but I don't know how well they pay. You'd have to find one that deals with theatre and not just halloween costumes, that's the one I worked at. One day I ironed 100 buddhist monk robes and 50 nun's habbits.... good times.
