I just saw Silver Linings Playbook will be available on Comcast On Demand on 4/30.

I haven't seen it yet.

I think it comes out on DVD on 4/30 too.

I'm also looking forward to this because I want to see it, too.

Also I saw there was a movie on Lifetime recently called "Call me Crazy" and it's a lot of shorter stories about people with different types of mental illness including schizophrenia and bipolar and I really want to check it out to see if they did a terrible job or not... I mostly feel they might have done a bad job due to the title.

The Lifetime movie basically gave us worst-case scenarios. But it was certainly more useful than last night's TV show Body of Proof, in which a sociopathic girl with a dx of borderline personality disorder is characterized by "manic" episodes when she kills people. Talk about misinformation......they rolled three very serious MH diagnoses into one, and yet it was the "manic" state that made her kill. Good grief!

I'm planning on getting silver linings playbook the day it comes out. I've seen it several times and really loved it. Definitely worth the money to purchase. I'm not kidding you when I say I have the release day marked in my calendar.

There really were only a few parts where I was like "oh come on, now... really?" But in general it was done very well.

I'm looking forward to when / if it will come on Netflix.

Awesome bracelet!! Have you worked on any chakra clearings or meditations recently? I used to be so good at it but lost my way a bit. I avidly practiced ones taught by Amorah Quan Yin for years. I love her. Met her once at Mt Shasta and she played crystal singing bowls with me.... ... Different notes resonate to different chakras. Fascinating subject.

I saw it and I really liked it. I have bipolar II and I felt I could relate more with the depressed girl than the bipolar I guy, and she did her role really well! Two of the songs on the soundtrack were especially enjoyable too, which is always a nice bonus.

Okay, so I saw this last night. It was at the Red Box. (We also got Guilt Trip, which I thought was pretty great.)

Any way, my impression of this movie was it was pretty good. I liked Bradley Cooper's character and I felt I really connected to him. I think he did a good job of showing dysphoric mania. At least, that's what I preceived him having, because a lot of his actions reminded me so much of myself. Like, without giving anything away, there's a scene where he flips out at his doctor's office due to a trigger. It just totally reminds me of times I've had like screaming at the drive through attendant and then driving off in a rage because, you know, I said 2 cokes, not 1. But yeah.

Also the obsessive drives. I need to do this NOW. I need to find this. I can't stop until I find this. I'm freaking out because I can't find it. Why can't I find it? This shoudl be so simple, but it's not here! Yeah... I get like that. Sometimes I think it was a bit exaggerated, but I think it's like theater. You put on really heavy make-up so the audiance can better see your face. You put on a big show so people who have no idea can better get it, instead of just saying "he's just angry, how is that bipolar?"

I also thought they put in little moments like Robert DeNiro asking him "why are you so up? are you taking your meds?" and him responding, "I'm just happy." You know, I've heard people complain about that very thing. But, I think he did a really good job as the dad.

The other thing... I don't know what the Jennifer Lawrence dx was supposed to be, although I think I remember she was supposed to have BPD (which I totally didn't get that from her if she was supposed to, maybe that's just me,) but I felt like she had bipolar, too. But, she was at a different place with it and had already come through a pretty major cycle. But, I know she's not supposed to. But I really felt like it would have been cool if both peole had bipolar and one had these co-morbid issues, like BPD, and this one had these issues, like the psychosis. And that would have better showcased the fact that bipolar has different aspects for everyone.

Also, they never show the depression side, exactly. But, like I said, I feel that Bradley Cooper's character was very dysphoric and it really, really reminded me of me a lot.

Okay, so my other thing about the movie is kind of funny. We're sitting there watching it and my husband suddenly says, "I don't think you're like him at all." And I was like, "WTF are you talking about? Just the other day you said you're sick of me exploding." And my husband says, "But you're mad at me when that happens, and anger is a normal human emotion." And I was like, "Yeah, okay, so how about getting so angry I want to stab people's eyes out with a pencile because they ask me for directions?" And he was like, "Whatever." Then I said, "Plus, bipolar isn't the same for everyone." So then he just hugged me and didn't say anything else. I know I've got him when he drops it.

Anyway, I thought it was good.

Great analysis! Now that you've said these things I can relate more to the characters! It never struck me that he was in a dysphoric mania or that she could have BPD! But now that you've said it, it makes perfect sense! I didn't see a lot of BPD in her either, but I do remember her being very impulsive and emotionally unstable. I think you're right!

There were just certain aspects of her back story that made me go "mania! mania!" I don't know... it just felt that way. But, like I said, showing that people have more than one problem (which most of us do,) like anxiety and so on, I think is a good thing.
