We drive to GA about 2 months ago to get a transmission for my husband's eclipse. While there the owner of the transmission did the whole "oh you should follow me around the corner here and let me show you my distillery." My husband and I sized him up, he just seemed like a 'good ole boy' and even though we were in a strange country town in another state we decided between the two of us we could take him if we had to. Of course these were just jokes we halfhazardly made as we zigged and zagged for a few miles behind the guy. Anyway, guy pulls up to a legit moonshine distillery (fresh spring fed siloh and all and invites us in. We are looking over our shoulders as he has yet to tell us it's all legal LOL

So yeh, about 12 300 gallon vats of mash. Some corn, some everything else. Full on assembly line for labeling, corking, etc. This place was immaculate. Clean. Next door was the garage housing...dear Lord, at a guess 400 barrels of moonshine, just hanging out aging. The stuff is made from a fresh water spring that runs through a couple states and has ties to travel mapping for slaves and donkeys. I hope I don't sound like a bigot, this is the man's words. You can verify it all, Mt.Airy distillery in GA (Georgia, USA). Guy even says the news is coming to interview him the next day.

Flash forward, back story not necessary but I put it out there because (obviously) I opened the bottle. I kind of feel like a **** cause it was like a souvenir from the trip but the bottom fell out of the sky tonight (terrible rain in central AL) and I wanted a damn drink. Plus they are a legit manufacturer/distributer of moonshine so we can always get more! Why drive to the gas station for beer, risk getting pulled (Lamictal messes with my eyes AND my license is expired) when I can just pop the bottle, right? I debated this for about an hour before I just did it. My hubby works way hard and fell asleep 7:50pm. The windows are all cracked cause it's cool & rainy and he's just sawing logs snoozing on the couch. So I had about 4oz of "sour mash." It's breath takingly disgusting and strong as all get out. I miss drinking...
