Is itworth it? I'm a thousand miles away from my regular T since I'm on break. I like her. My dad thinks I need a temp T to fill in the gap, but it sounds like a huge waste of time.

Maybe find a support group in your area if you don't want to go through the hassle of finding a new T.

problem is my parents don't believe I'm bipolar, even though they haven't seen me in so long and the second I come back I'm not very outwardly symptomatic. They've never seen me manic because I've only had one true manic episode so far. Despite my T and even my pdoc now believing I have bp, my dad still thinks there's not really anything wrong with me. He used to be so supportive...

I go to a support group through Bipolar and Depression Support Alliance. (DBSA). Helps a lot! Maybe there is one in your area. It is not supposed to replace therapy, but people in my group swear it's helped the more than therapy. Those are personal opinions only, and it should never replace therapy.

I looked it up. there is a support group in my area. Don't know if they take teens though.

Personally I couldn't go to a temporary T because I believe the benefits from therapy come through the relationship and that takes time to build.
I'm sure a support group would take teens.
How long are you going to be away from your regular T for? Would she consider Skype therapy sessions?

Until mid August. Don't think she's that technologically savvy honestly.

I would try a temporary t because they may not help you with you big issue but the small issues that arise with being home and having no support. most parents have problems accepting any dx because they do not want their children to have more issues in life then regular life throws at you. I would try the support group and journal while finding T that is willing to be temporary. I think if it is going to work you should have the therapist know that it will be temporary and only on school breaks.

I agree with Miguel's mom on this one. The temporary therapy will give you at least
another experience with people who are trying to help, and that's encouraging. It
may keep things calm at home for you, too.

Your dad sounds as if he's sympathetic in offering you the temporary therapy while there. He may have some rather sharp insight regarding your need for continued help. I wouldn't worry about it; it seems like a possibility for making the summer more enjoyable while at home.
Thanks for this!

I'm not sure how to feel about my dad right now. on the one hand he DID offer temporary t, however he won't believe my current T's assessment.
