Hard to tell for me, but it was somewhere 16-17. I want to know if my age could be why my symptoms are getting worse.

My first episode was 16. I did not get any treatment and it subsided. The next bad one in my early 20s got me hospitalized.

Mine remained consistently bad from 14-21....

I think it was worst around 17 i was undiagnosed and un-medicated. Self-harming, suicidal, not sleeping much, paranoid and delusional, didn't go to school, ocasionally slept in my closet...

so i would say that was when it started getting worse than it had been, mind you, i had been self-harming and had over 100+ cuts by age 15.

I had episodes in my 20's but didn't have a really bad one until I was 36.

I was self-medicating in my teens and 20's.

I was completely insane between 12-16. I've never had moods like that since.

at 15 - 17 certanly showed signs, having lots of friends to having no friends at all on and off in highschool. I just assumed it was everyone else, no one wanted to be friends. Then oh these people are cool. No it was probably just me. depressive thoughts to aggressive, energetic behavior. Wanting all the attention and getting it doing stupid things.

But it got really bad where I could feel something happening with my mood and feelings at 18.

10-16 were fairly bad - mainly depressed, mixed eps tho

17 - first major breakdown

17-27 - mood swing city (didnt realize anti-ds could have made it worse)

28 - next breakdown, extreme mood swings, hospitalized

29 - now. Still swinging but meds getting it under control

Pretty similar to most it seems:

Started at 16/17 with depression mostly. Just being "angsty",

The first time it felt really bad was when I was about 24 with a two month manic episode. Didn't end up in the hospital (somehow) but I DID end up with a crap ton of debt. Awesome.

I had a series of intense episodes after having my daughter at 29 and have been really struggling with it the past few years. Finally feel like I'm getting things under control though.

11-21.

I tried to commit suicide twice within this frame. I was dx at 19 and was in constant treatment until I turned 23. Mostly stable now.

mine started getting bad after having my first child at 25. until then i was up and down but could fly under the radar. my last episode was the worst and i am in my late 30's (circumstantial after a cross country move). I have not used mood stabilizers before and I think it is working. Been on Li for 1.5 months now.

20. Massive life-altering crash out of nowhere. Hit when I'd been having the best time of my life, actually. Made no sense whatsoever.
Been on this ****ing roller coaster ever since. Decades. It long ago left the realm of being able to be chalked up to anything but straight up bipolar. Friggin' classic case.

I should add - this makes my life seem very crap which it hasn't been. In and amongst the wild mood swings I have had a pretty good time, esp those lovely hypmanic periods which sometimes lasted months. The depressions have been pretty bad though

For me, it was age 17. Got worse when I was 20 and then I started medication.
