I don’t think I hear voices in my head. Thinking about the previous sentence for a bit I realized that everybody hear voices in their head. Some people talk to themselves more that others do. It might be your own voice or the voice of you mother or teacher or friend that pops into your mind from time to time or at specific times.
I talk to myself out loud all the time and I think lots of people do. I can’t help feeling that for me, there’s more to it. I remember the other day saying “shut up” out loud while making a go away gesture with my hand, to my right. I noticed immediately and put some effort into figuring out who said what to me to provoke that kind of behavior. In vain I must say, although it might be in line with always thinking or saying to myself “leave me alone” or “go away” or “stop it”. Who the hell am I talking to? Who else is living in this body with me? |

My voices sound like real people next to me talking.

I don't know. Yes and no? Its all mixed in together. I don't recall my first episode or what it was. Was it when I was a teen and heard voices and went to see if my sister was talking to me and found her sound asleep in her bed? I wasn't diagnosed until 33 or so. The voices have been more so since I've been diagnosed, off and on.

when I hear voices they are also outside of my head and not inside. Once one whispered right in my ear. It's really scary when it happens. I don't hear them often.
