in my last mannic phase... i kept going on about wanting a budgie- and it's all i talked about and everyone's like... no you don't want a budgie, you know nothing about birds- it's just your state of mind.

anyway- what does my brother do friday afternoon?

comes through the door with a budgie (no joke!. a budgie, budgie food, the cage, etc) and tells me he got it from a man who breeds them.

now i'm really pissed off... because the budgie has done nothing but tweet, bang it's cage, and ring the bell in the corner... uggggg i want to strangle him

the man who breeds them won't take him back, so i'm now stuck with a budgie who won't shut up and give me any peace- i'm not even sure how to break it to my brother that the budgie thing.. i never wanted one

ugggggg i'm ready to grab him out the cage and strangle him!

Ok - I'm sorry, but it's kinda funny. Strangle the brother but not the budgie

Guess your brother has a good memory. If you really don't want the bird can you post on Craigslist.org?

You're kinda lucky, in a way, my sister is a total B, and all she does is look down her nose at me.

Open a window accidentally on purpose?

Uhhh....A bird rescue place might be the best place instead of craigslist. The volunteers there know more about birds there and there are likely to be more of the budgies there. I am sure the budgie you have right now would be happy to see such a flock. Bird just wants to be part of your flock.

If its really getting to you, you can temporarily cover the cage with a dark sheet or towel and the bird will think it's night. I wouldn't do this for more than an hour at a time though because its kind of mean. I used to do it when I was needing to study and the birds would just not quiet down.

You might get used to the tweeting and bell dinging ... he does sound cute. And ringing his little bell sounds so cute.

Most of us are really sensitive to sounds. It would drive me crazy at first. I had to live near some train tracks while pregnant with my daughter looonnngg time ago. In the middle of the night they smacsh the train cars together, cuz that's what they do. It took about a week of waking up panicked at the loud noise, but after that i just slept right through it. Even us bp humans can become quite adaptable.

So I really hope you could just get used to him and maybe have a little birdy friend to chirp along with. And so sorry you're in this pickle of a situation.

Oh - just in case anyone thinks I'm an animal hater. The window comment was a joke

Will a budgie fit within your budget?

A mother budgie, a daddy budgie and their baby were getting ready to
migrate. The mother budgie said, "My instincts tell me to go north."
The daddy budgie said, "My instincts tell me to go south." The baby
budgie said,"My end stinks too, but it doesn't tell me where to go!"

Pets of any kind are a wonderful thing for bipolar peeps.

When I lived in Florida I have 29 birds ! yes 29 and everyone had a different personality. If I was home they were all out of there cages.

Birds will Bond very quickly to a person. the are good little talkers.

Birds should never just be left in there cages all the time , fulltime, They stress to the point of ripping all the feathers out.

My Daughter got her own bird last year.( her lovebird died a couple years ago, and she needed time to heal) when she is home the bird is out the cage and spends time on her shoulder or wandering her bed or windows etc.

Can you tell I am Pro Bird ? hehehe

Hope you decide what will be best for you and your feathered friend

You were the bird lady what kind of birds?

I am the dust bunny lady.

I see birds every morning when I am drinking coffee outside the apartment. All fun to watch, once we heard a woodpecker try out vinyl siding of a house. That was loud!!! I live in Florida so you know how many pretty cranes & different birds there are here.

I can enjoy them now, but not when i first moved down here from NYC. i had a hard time adjusting. I wanted a city sounds CD - sirens, Latino music, loud cursing, dumpsters being emptied, random gunshots, haha. The birds kept waking me up in the morning. You know I think they actually have a white noise city app for that now.

Me - just not pro mornings.

um lol!

i actually might do the window thing.

well, 1 good thing came out of this:

next time someone asks me what was the worst thing you did while mannic, i can say... insist on getting a budgie, and actually owning 1- then being pissed off with it!

i love Macaw parrots... their color is very vivid and they are supposed to have intelligence comparable with 10 year old human... but they are costliest and i think loudest, though fairest of all parrots...
