I hate wearing glasses. Like I actually find myself getting angry that I have to wear them. My face gets oily and they fall down my face in the summer time. Which I also hate. Summer is hot. And I hate hot. And our window air conditioner sounds like a damn lawn mower. So we can't run it at night. Which reminds me that our lawn looks like hell too. We have a gravel driveway and it's OVERGROWN with weeds. I tried to spray it with roundup, but the damn thing is ALSO like a quarter mile long and it was really hot the day I tried to do it.

I hate hot. I live in Ohio because I like winters. Oh! A thunderstorm warning just flashed across the TV! I love those. Literally. Except when our power goes out. Because the sump pump in our basement likes to short out when the power goes out. Floods our basement. Every. Time. A few years ago it flooded and blew up our hot water heater. Actually happened when I was 9 months pregnant. Kid you not.

But back to my glasses. I hate them. A lot. I've been wearing glasses since I was...

Oh hey tomorrow's Monday and I have to go back to work.

Since I was about 8 years old. Now I'm technically "legally blind" I guess. Or so they tell me. I wore contacts for a few years when I was teenager. But when I was 16/17 I went through a really bad depression and would sleep in them for about 15 hours a day and just didn't have the energy to take them out. Then I almost went blind from wearing them too much. Long story... let's just say that it CAN happen.

So now I'm stuck. And I look hideous.

Ok I'm done. For now.

I'm nearly blind without my glasses too. It's annoying! But I think my face looks really weird without my glasses on, so I prefer them. I can't do contacts because I've got really bad astigmatism and I'd have to get them custom fit.

I also highly dislike hot. But I also highly dislike cold. I like climates that don't change too much! (yet... I'm in a -50C-+30C temp range here...... it's HORRIBLE!!!)

and I've had my glasses since I was 9!

OH MY! That is quite a range of temperatures!! I think I would die. Like... legit.

It was like 82F here today and I melted. The coldest it got down to this winter though was something like... negative 10 or 20 (I mean, the hell is the difference at that point?) or something like that. I'm a fan of winter. But! Fall is my favorite!!! I'm excited already!

Nessa, I probably shouldn't have, but that last message made me giggle. I've been doing the same thing all day.

I had Lasik surgery last year. No more glasses and contacts for me - it's so nice. I hate that hot feeling and glasses, I commiserate!

Hey Nessa

I'm legally blind without my glases, too! We should start a club! The Glasses Gals. I also used to wear contacts but haven't since having kids. Although now I'd like to go back to it maybe.

Without my glasses I'm like Velma (or is it Thelma?) from Scooby-Doo! If I drop them I can't see them. LOL.

We have only a swamp cooler in our house, so it can get very hot. It's a window one, and so it doesn't reach the whole house. We have fans going all over. I hate the heat, too! Swell up, turn purple. That's me. Very attractive.... NOT!

We also have a yard overrun by weeds. No grass for us. I'd like grass but we live in a semi-arid desert, so grass is unnatural and requres much care and watering. And with the drought that never ends, there is always dead grass all over. As long as we keep it mowed, the weeds are all we have. Or mud.

I can't have lasik because my corneas are too thin. I learned that when I worked for the eye surgeon in 2007.

The very thought of Lasik kind of gives me an anxiety attack!! I really don't think I could do it! I have a friend at work who had it done and she tells me it's COMPLETELY worth it though.

Glasses Gals! I like that!

I've been meaning to go back to the optometrist to get contacts, but it's SO difficult getting out of the house to go anywhere but work with a 2 year old at home.

And last night our one window air conditioner (we have two for our house) stopped working. Of course! Right in time for the 90 degree week! Rad.

Oh no! I hate it when expensive things break down. I hope you can get a new one or fix that one or something. I know how that isn't always possible, though. I'd love a window air conditioner someday.

I have an 18 month old at home, so I completely understand not being able to get out of the house. Plus the expense of eye exam, contacts, etc. is there.... next year maybe.
