Hi All,
Can anyone NOT sleep on Seroquel? I've been taking Trazodone 200mg for sleep, but I've been sleeping very little anyway the last week or so, and also not tired. Not a good situation. I saw my pdoc yesterday and he prescribed me 25mg of Seroquel for sleep. I took it last night and had even less sleep. I seem to have some kind of 'withdrawal' from Trazodone where I get very restless and kick and thrash around in the bed a lot - it's happened twice before. I didn't feel the Seroquel at all. Anyway, now I feel like the waking dead. Not tired, but not feeling good, irritable and unable to stick with any activity. I have to SMS my pdoc today to report on the Seroquel. Let's see. Just wondering - how long after you take the tablet is it supposed to kick in...? Thanks a lot, BB

Seroquel does nothing for me and I think it wound me up. My husband takes it and it knocks him out. Everybody is different. I think it took a couple of days to work for my husband.

Seroquel kicks in for me after about a half hour or so. Maybe it's nit a high enough dose for you. Like others said maybe give it a few days. Or maybe it won't work for sleep for you.

I take 150 in the morning, and that makes me tired, I'll sometimes fall asleep after taking it. But at night time the same dose doesn't seem to work so well. I've even had bouts of insomnia when taking 350 at bed time. But for the most part it does help me sleep.
Perhaps you need to wait for the withdrawal to decrease as the seroquel builds up in your blood? Maybe a few days.

I'm going through something similar. I'm on my second week on a full dose of Seroquel (150), but ever since I've started taking it I've been staying up late, and I haven't been tired at all in the days. I am usually falling asleep on my feet all the time without meds, so this is really weird for me. Although I can't say I've been sleeping less but it's on the other end. I don't wake up in the morning (not abnormal just annoying) but I can't sleep if I've just taken my Seroquel. I've started taking it at 7 so I can try and sleep at 12/1ish. God help me if I take it late.
Glad to know I'm not the only one though. I was getting worried! |

Dear All,
I'm taking 450mg of Seroquel at night for sleep. It ain't doing a darn thing for me. I'm sitting up all night surfing the net because I can't sleep. I even added 12.5 mg of Ambien and I'm still not able to sleep. However, once I do sleep, I need anywhere from 11-13 hours of sleep for me to feel well rested. This is the part that I hate. Getting up at noon makes me feel like a complete *****. I don't know what to tell you other than that you might want to try adding another sleep aid to see whether you get any positive results. Take care! Keep |

I take 175mg XL Serequol at night and it has its moments of not working. I use 25mg as a PRN and that works. When I took the 25mg originally prescribed for sleep that didn't even touch me.
Maybe give it a few weeks and if nothing contact your GP/Psych? |

Argh!! Me too!! I hate it! I couldn't get to sleep till 4 last night, and I just woke up half an hour ago! I feel like such a lazy slob! Do you think it's the Seroquel that makes you stay up, then sleep for hours? Or is that just you're normal sleep pattern? |

It use to bother me that i slept so late during the day .. But I finally decided it was better for me to get my 10-12 hours so I stay stable than to get up just because i felt guilty .
I took the XL seroquel . slept 18 hours straight the first one i took .. maybe the plain seroquel needs more time to work ??? Good luck ![]()

Hi, I have the same problem with 600mg Seroquel XR (2 years) and 100mg regular Seroquel (12 years). Can't wait to see my psychiatrist. When I sleep, it's like if I am under hypnosis, not totally asleep. Until my next visit, I've searched to see if this medication can stop working after a few years and found no valid information yet. I feel as if I'm wasting precious time; summer is almost here and I'd love to enjoy the sun, not the moon...

I echo what many have said. I take 25mg every now and again at night. It doesn't really aid in getting me to sleep, but once I am asleep, I sleep like a log. I ideally then need 10+ hours sleep, and any less and I feel tired

I take 600 mg of Seroquel at bed time. When I first started taking it, 6 years ago, it knocked me unconscious practically. However, I was so delusional and hallucinating while manic my psychiatrist really wanted me to stick with it. Anyway, 6 years later, it does not affect my sleep at all now but it is good for my psychotic symptoms. Be patient. New drugs take time to adjust to.
