I'm new here, so please bare with me. So I have been diagnosed with depression for about 8 years. I have had bouts of weeping, laying in bed, not wanting to get out, lost of interest in things etc. Well I was put on Abilify and Prozac and those feelings went away. Recently I started having really bad anger/irritability issues. My primary doc sent me to a psychiatrist who said she thinks I am on the spectrum of bi polar without the mania. She kept me on the Abilify (10mgs), took me off the Prozac and added Trileptal (300 mgs..well working my way up to 600mgs). My question is has anyone had good results with Trileptal for anger and irritability issues or just as a mood stabilizer in general? I have tried ever SSRI under the sun it feels like and I've never tried a mood stabilizer so I'm very curious. Today is day 1 on Trileptal and I am hoping for good things. Thanks for reading my book

Hello, and welcome to PC!!!

While none of are doctors and can't diagnose, I'm pretty sure you're in the right place. Lots of us were misdiagnosed as depressed for years before we got our bipolar dx, myself included, so you have lots of company. We're a good support group, and a number of members here do take Trileptal and are excellent resources.

Wishing you the best!

I have never been on that particular medication, but I sure someone will come along shortly that has.

I think that's the med that I took that made soda taste horde. That was a while so I don't remember. But Welcome! I was dx'd with depression, then bp2, then bp1, then IED, then personality disorder NOS, then Bipolar 1 w. ED NOS, Bipolar 1 w. psychosis & anorexia, currently looking at scizoaffective bipolar type & anorexia. I guess what I'm trying to say is that as time goes on and doctors get to know us or change doctors our dx's evolve. So as long as it helps don't stress the DX
