I once read a doctor face to face can better track your body language. Lost the article and doctors name years ago :-(. I pay out of pocket to CBH Clatsop behavioral care here in Seaside Oregon. i see a doctor every 3 months. I am normally stable to mixed but based on environmental stresses i bounce like any other BP person. I really want a tech savvy younger doctor as mine is retiring and I had a bad experience with her replacement. Does anyone know of how to find a skype doctor? Obviously, an initial visit may be best... but Medical Records can all be transferred etc etc. This is not a physical disorder... I am happy to pay for the medical service but i want it provided in a more efficient manner am I asking for too much? How would one go about finding the right doctor. I need one able to prescribe not sure what they need behind there name for that. Any recommendations on who to call? I am thinking of doctors in the Portland area.

I don't know of any Pdocs that would even treat someone via Skype , let alone it being legal?

I wish you luck in finding one

@Christina, the VA deals with things differently than the regular world, but I essentially see my pdoc via skype. Its only VA to VA so its far more secure than skype, but the process is the same.

Wow didn't know that... Thanks for letting me know.

Curious.... Do you feel it works as well as a traditional face to face appt?

I don't really have anything to compare it with, but I have to imagine its tougher for both of us. I don't like the way the VA runs things as a whole. Hopefully I get a real job soon and get a chance to compare it to civilian doctors, face to face even!

Lil_better_everyday, I get all my care from the VA, insurance is just to expensive. I've done the video thing once, and I don't like it. I read body language as well, and I only can see his face, and I just don't like it. Seems impersonal to me.

I'm with ya jeffro, I can't pay for insurance right now either. But I don't have the time to drive 3.5 hours to see a pdoc either. ****, with gas prices these days I may as well pay for insurance. Amirite? Okay enough, stand up schtick. I don't like it at all, but it's the only real option right now. The new secure messaging system makes it a bit better because I can actually get a hold of him if I have a crisis (well with in 5ish days). Its definitely not ideal, but so it goes.

I just want a single payer system already! Our system is so broken and needs a complete change.

The more I think about your situation the madder I get ! Really ( insert foul laugage here ) 5 day turn around for a crisis

I am really sorry that our country takes such lousy care of the ones that have kept it safe.

I've got a phone appointment with my psychologist on the 9th. He's an EAP (works for the Employment Assistance Program I think is what it's called?!) but as I'm a teacher... he only comes to this city once a month, and not during the summer.

It's a bit frustrating for people, but I'm ok with it. So I'll have a chat with him in July and then I will see him again in September. When I went to make my first appointment, I called sorta REALLY close to his monthly visit and his receptionist wasn't sure if they would be able to fit me in.. and she asked if he wasn't able to, if I was willing to have a Skype appointment with him. That sort of surprised me, but in a good way. I really appreciated knowing that they would do that for me. I ended up seeing him the day before he was actually seeing people, so either he made extra time for me or he has a few emergency slots the day before.
