So my pdoc (that's psychiatrist, right?) changed my meds. I'm staying on Lamictal 200mg, dropping celexa, cutting my risperidone in half and adding lithium. I also may or may not be adding something called Saphis which is CRAZY expensive (my co-insurance would be $130 a month).

I know YMMV and all that but any thoughts on these changes? Has anyone taken Saphis before?

Yes. She gave me the samples. I said I'd try them but if the med was too expensive I wouldn't take it which she wasn't thrilled about but she said we'll try the other stuff then.

I tried Saphris it can cause some side effects. The one I had is kind of like restless leg syndrome and you can take some kind of supplement for it, unless you have a history of asthma (it relaxes your muscles and can relax the lungs too much or something). Sometimes the restless leg stuff goes away but it was giving me anxiety attacks so I stopped taking it.

I've taken Saphris! I actually JUST recently switched from Saphris to Geodon. My main reason was because I was gaining weight on Saphris, (even though it's supposed to be weight neutral?) Well so is Geodon. I actually tried Geodon in the past and it made me incredibly tired, (silly me I took it during the day though) and Saphris is actually mildly stimulating for me... it makes me feel physically anxious, kind of like restless leg syndrome but not AS bad. Sometimes I would rock myself back in forth in bed at night because I just "felt like it" lol, hard to explain. Overall it was a great medication though! Really helped with my manic symptoms. I only switched because I wanted to try another weight neutral drug, and the sleepyness side effects were welcomed because I've been having trouble with insomnia. (not sure if it's related to the saphris or not but I did find it took me FOREVER to fall asleep after taking it... my friend takes it and it knocks her out and she can't sleep without it though! so everyone is different).
