*TRIGGER and I might piss you off*
Like what the **** is up with this article? Quote:
![]() Who needs to be taught radical acceptance by an asshat like this who doesn't know crap about life? I knew all about this **** when I was 5. And I had no tolerance for annoying people back then either. And what the hell is up with that Snowden farce? Is it humanly possible to be more hypocritical than the US government is? (i.e. trying to force other countries to extradict him, when the US routinely refuses to extradict criminals to some of the same countries for similar "crimes", and Obama administration loving whistleblowers so much they want to keep them safe in jail forever) ![]() And what's up with calling that two-party system a democracy? I'm sure there are better democracies in just about any part of the world. Last edited by Anonymous32734; Jul 13, 2013 at 05:42 AM. |

I know many Americans who would join you in the government disdain.
I still love living here, a lot. In my opinion it really IS a great country underneath all of the lying and scandals and politics. The two party system is crap. Complete crap. Many people I know in their 20s or 30s are registered Independents. (I'm personally Libertarian... I'm that... special kind of crazy.) I had a dad but he was never around. So I guess I should start walking around with an air of self gratitude? (Sarcasm)

I didn't take it as harsh at all actually! I'm having problems properly conveying sarcasm lately.

That article is stupid! I'm a firm beliver that kids all kids idolize the adults in there life (adults could be kids a bit old then them to). Around early teens when they start kinda looking at how other 'house holds' are run but it's not until adult hood until really understand. Even then maybe not. I hate article like that, sorry. I think serviving to adulthood is triving for a lot.

Mandrec ~ you actually did a public service (for me) today with your commentary on the no-dad situations.
My kid has no dad, well, he exists, but has handed me the reins to rear our son & says being hands off is the best he can do .... uh, ok?! I guess. Not what I had in mind, being a single parent, but hey, my kid is figuring things out just fine. I also like the word asshat. Makes me laugh. ![]()

Well, I agree that no child ever survives childhood without some minuscule injury to the
ego. Maybe that may be what pushes us all to strive to be the best that we can be (when we're healthy and understand what takes place in childhood that injured us.) But it's being carried a little too far, in my view. Everyone is human; the writer (and I agree with you about his lack of knowledge of childhood) is trying to impress, frankly, and I don't buy that. Enough education teaches us that the only real thing we know is that education teaches us how little we really do know. Those people who are gentle enough to really be strong have too much respect for themselves and others to suggest that only the "rare" individual can "pull himself up by his bootstraps". Nonsense. We are all created equal, but we are not born equal. Therein is the food for articles like the one you read and reported to us, in my view. I enjoyed the responses to this thread. But don't put your heart to the task of managing the stress that occurs when you let things like that article upset you; it isn't worth the injury to your system. |
