Hello,
My psychiatrist and I have been trying to come up with a new combination of medications. I'm on 200mg of lamictal and 5 mg of Abilify (was on 15 mg). I've been on nearly all the other mood stabilizers with no success because of either bothersome or serious side effects. I cannot go up on my lamictal because I get tremors, and the Abilify has caused some major side effects that I just don't want to deal with any more. Has anyone tried Latuda? My psychiatrist said it was a new antipsychotic recently approved for bipolar. I've got a week to decide if I want to try it or not.
Oh and the reason we are switching meds is because I keep getting major depression and my mood just can't seem to stabilize. I've been on the Lamictal, Abilify, and also Lorazepam combination for over 4 years, but end up in the hospital at least twice per year. I'd like to eliminate that if at all possible.
Oh and I'm also in therapy once per week.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I was on it for a few months (from around March/April until a few weeks ago). It was alright, nothing special. The really bad part for me was that you must take it with food or pay the consequences (if I didn't take it with enough food, I would at the very least become extremely nauseous, and at the worst, puke the entire contents of my stomach out). I definitely wasn't depressed on it, but I was also taking an antidepressant...so...

Thank you so much for the information. It is helpful. I've been on quite a few antidepressants as well, with no success. However, I don't think I've tried all of them. Maybe I will suggest an antidepressant with my lamictal and abilify.
