I would appreciate it so much if someone would take the time to read this for me. I am supposed to meet with my boss (claims unaware of health issues). I am also meeting next week with someone that is going to "reassign" me, and alter some things about my job. I need any information possible that I can provide for these meetings!I had been doing the same tasks for years on my own. Sometimes I would be slower as usual, but I always finished things on time. I build servers for a defense contractor. My title USED to be systems intergrater, and built everything by scratch (by myself) I even suggested my work be checked for errors before shipping which never happened. Now, these systems are being returned for an upgrade. This means they are taken apart. A few things are added like memory and other parts. The man that replaced me for this task has informed me that there were only 2 errors in over 300 servers that I had built! Excellent rate if you ask me. 2 servers had 1 loose screw. anything else that was wrong with them was not something that I could have done. (problems with software, faulty parts, etc.)Suddenly I became unqualified for my job. My journal entry has most of the details. I need ANY help!
If you have the time.. please read the attachment. Thanks if anyone does in advance. Last edited by Wren_; Aug 23, 2013 at 04:36 PM. Reason: added trigger icon regarding text attachment |

Okay, I'm sorry but the attachment was too difficult for me to read.
However.....if you want some sympathy, you have mine. I got booted from my executive-level nursing director position earlier this year because I had a bipolar meltdown at a particularly bad time for my facility (an assisted living which was being surveyed by the state). Even though they actually did me a favor, it was embarrassing and I STILL haven't figured out how they got away with not making reasonable accommodations for me as outlined by my psychiatrist. I'm not sure what to tell you going forward, but just be aware that discrimination against those with mental illness is alive and well even in this supposedly "enlightened" country, and many of us other BPers have been in a similar situation. I hope your work circumstances come out better than mine did, and that you're able to stay in your job. Wishing you the best.

I read everything you wrote. I do think that what your job has been doing to you is illegal. I also think that you could file a lawsuit against them and against that girl who keeps bothering you. If I were you, I would consult a lawyer. Best wishes to you! Hang in there and fight for your rights!

I'm sorry you have to go through all this. It's not right.
As much as losing this job would cause your illness to worsen, it sounds like keeping it is also worsening your condition. Have you tried to look for another job at all? I would definitely consult an attorney at this point. And document EVERYTHING. Keep a paper trail of every communication with your superiors regarding your disabilities. Only notify them of appointments/accommodations/etc by email. Send things with receipt notifications enabled so you can prove they got them. Oh, and not to muddy the water, but if your ADD is affecting your job, you can list that as a covered disability and request accommodations for that as well. Do remember though, that legally they do not have to honor an accommodation if it would pose a real hardship to the company in any way. But they do have to try. But the ridicule, harassment, and denying you your treatment times is definitely illegal. Your treatment appointments are covered under the Family Medical Leave Act, provided your company has at least 50 employees and you've been there at least a year, which you said you have. They have to allow you time for treatment appointments as Intermittent Medical Leave. The time used comes out of your annual FMLA allowance of 12 weeks, and can be in as little as 15-minute increments. If you call in sick due to your illness, that is also covered under FMLA, as is of course any hospitalization. But you need to let your employer know it is an "FMLA day" for it to be covered. But definitely get that attorney.
