My anxiety is through the roof. I'm trying to remain calm knowing that I am 3 weeks off my lexapro. Now I feel like maybe I shouldn't have gone off it, hubby thinks I can't deal and with anything and I feel like I'm going to explode. Every little thing bothers me - house work, kids fighting, you name it. This has never happened. I don't even know how to describe it.

What meds have helped you with anxiety? I go to see my doc on Thursday.

Currently I'm on 300mg of lamictal and 50 of topamax. I went off lexapro bc I felt like I wasn't and haven't been depressed for a long time.

Lexapro will help for anxiety. If you were able to take it without going manic, i'd get back on it.

I have severe OCD/anxiety along with bipolar. I take Lexapro 30mg and it has helped tremendously. Granted, I take a boatload of mood stabilizers to counteract the activating effect that it has.

have you looked up antidepressant discontinuation syndrome? google it and see if you recognize the symptoms.
I take an antidepressant for my anxiety and a benzodiazapine as needed.
Thanks for this!

Viibryd helps but not nearly as well as celexa. Aterax just makes me feel drugged but the next day is better.

I take Klonopin for anxiety. I usually only need half of a tablet of the lowest dose.

I also take Klonopin. 1 tab before bed for insomnia, 1/2 a tab in the morning for anxiety.

Lexapro put me in the hospital with mania but Xanax has always worked quickly and lowers my anxiety immediately

Paxil is great for anxiety, but has other issues. Buspar is a non narcotic anti anxiety med.

I have a business trip I have to go on in November and I don't think the Klonopin calms me enough to not panic on the plane. Can I take more than the .5mg or is that the max dose? I plan on talking to pdoc about it on Wednesday, but I'm just curious as to what others on Klonopin take.

I can take 2 of my .5 mgs if necessary according to my Pdoc. I have done that on several occasions.

I take .5 mg of Klonipin (clonazepam) in the morning and 1.0 mg at bedtime. I've taken it almost every day since 1987. I sometimes double up my morning dose to 1.0 if I'm very anxious. I don't do it often, because the drug store counts every pill, and if I run out, then I just have to wait until they say I can have some more. In Canada (or at least in my province) it's a controlled substance.

I was up to 1mg of klons at one time. It really depends on how much it takes for u. Usually the doc will slowly increase the dosage. I've heard people on 2mgs of klons too. It really is some thing you and the doc need to talk about.

IMHO klons are not best for panic attacks because they take longer to take effect. Xanax acts much quicker and again imho is better suited for panic attacks or as needed. Klons are better suited for preventative measures and taken regularly 2 ot 3 times a day at various dosages set by your doc.

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to see if she'll give me a few Xanax for the trip. I don't have panic attacks often, but plane trips are guaranteed to set one off.

Just FYI, Ativan tablets can be put under the tongue where they'll disperse quickly, which makes them work a lot faster. Try it sometime when you need anxiety relief STAT.

I take Trazodone for anxiety and to help me sleep. Lexapro had the reverse effect on me where it sent me in a crazy manic state and put me in the hospital. For the bipolar I'm on Haldol.
