Hello all,
My name is Dave, I'm a 42 year old American, and I have been dealing with BPD most of my life, but in recent years it has become more acute. I teach English at a small university in southern China and there are next to no mental health resources here for foreigners, which is why I have chosen to come to this forum. I'm hoping to learn more about my condition, seek guidance and encouragement, as well as provide the same to others. Currently, I'm having problems sorting through what might be culture shock that turns into mania or depression, which for me, both lead to each other. It has been causing me problems with family and friends at home, who see me going through episodes from a distance (via social media). I especially have problems with what I've seen called "mixed episodes" where I am manic and depressed at the same time. On average, I have a mixed episode about once a month. Not sure what more to say just now, but thought this would be a good start. Thank you. |
