I know I have posted a lot recently, but I'm suffering and need advice. My body is tearing me up because of work and I'm thinking of going to part time. If I go part time I won't have enough money to pay my bills, but my body is ruining me so full time isn't helping. If I go part time could I get disability, how does disability work? I'm at work right now and I have IBS symptoms for weeks from anxiety. My job isn't bad which is why I feel bad about thinking of part time, but if I get stuck with a second shift or a busy shift I couldn't work it since I would be in the bathroom for most of my shift and it sends a red flag that something is wrong. My job is making me manic too from the hours and I'm struggling with what might be depression since it's that time of year again. I promise I won't make any new posts after this one for a while on this forum, I needed to make this one.
Should I tell my bosses that anxiety is affecting my work and working too much is ruining me or should I do what I mentioned above? Or does someone have a better idea? All opinions are welcomed.

It's a hard one, I'm not educated on the subject but I think there are options for partial unemployment & disability. I'd say go talk to those case workers first before talking to bosses - get the best advice. It might be best to keep it private, unless your bosses are really open & understanding. The case worker people will need a detail of how you are trying to work and how bad you're suffering each day. I know they want details of what your average day is like. I'd say be honest that you have bp and are worried. Best of luck, there's got to be some help out there.

If you are presently seeing a Psychiatrist and he has documentation (notes) that you are struggling (due to mood swings and/or med issues) I would say approach a Superior (or Human Resources) at work. They are obligated to listen to your health issues. They may even advise you to take a leave of absence (up to six weeks maybe?). I took a 6 wk leave of absence in early 90's after 2-3 hospitalizations and ended up going on SSDI because I could not pull it together after ECT. (I worked for a good employer (State of NJ) and they followed procedures very well regarding employee health issues.) Good luck - Rob

Right - that's good - but what if they tell bosses? My HR person would tell me everything...
The HR person might say they won't tell, but.... they do. Even though it's against the law to discriminate against disabilities, it's very hard to prove. It could keep you from getting a raise or an advanced position - if they think you're not going to be reliable, even though in the future you would be the best person for a higher position. I suggest to protect your privacy as much as possible regarding your mental health - would be better to say you have an ill family member you need to take time off to care for (almost the truth-the family member is you!). Unless you have an awesome boss who you can tell anything to? |

Every one is close nitch so they all talk to each other. I'm not super close to my boss since I don't see her often, but everyone seems to be friends with everyone except me. I have autism so socializing is very difficult for me; I don't have friends at work.

Where do you live? I'm in Canada and on provincial disability. If I work I can keep $325 and then my wages are deducted $ for $ off my disability check.
I've also heard that some disability plans dont allow you to work at all. Maybe look into the rules around disability where you live. Do you have disability insurance at work that would allow you to work part time? For IBS take enteric coated peppermint oil capsules. Be sure that they're enteric coated. You do not want them to dissolve in your stomach where they do no good. If enteric coated they get dissolved in the bowel where they work. I had IBS for 10 years and it beats all the many meds my GP and specialists gave me. Sent from my Note 2 using Tapatalk 4

I also took meds and herbals for a anxiety with the peppermint oil. They helped with the IBS too. For a complete cure I got a divorce. Sad but true.

I mean anxiety meds and herbal nervines (for nerves) - not stomach meds. There I think I said it all.

Try any health food or drug store. I'm not sure about US Supermarkets. You could try there too.
