I have bipolar and some paranoia. I was given valium 10 mgs and it makes me soooo sleepy. I have even cut a pill in half but it doesn't do anything. Anyone else that can share experiences with these meds would be great. I'm currently on 400 mg lamotrigine

it might be making you sleepy because of some other med your taking along with it. 10 mg is about average, splitting a 10 is possible for some, not others.

Xanax works faster and doesn't last as long as a valium. Ask your doc why he choice valium over xanax, klonopins, and atavans? There might be a good reason.

I've been asking pdoc for Xanax for 7 yrs she says no. But she let's me continue with a nasty physical addiction to klonopin, keeps upping the dosage. It's tricky. Xanax is a big killer when mixed with alcohol. Klonopin is supposed to be the worst physically addicting taking people years to withdraw. Ativan was a joke sugar pill for me...

They're all benzo's and will make you sleepy/relaxed. But you build up a tolerance and feel the effects less.

Good luck and welcome to PC.

I have never taken valium. Klonopin made me like a zombie. I like xannax. If I am agitated or upset, it will work right away, but it doesn't knock me out for a long time. It can also help if I need a little help quieting my mind a bed time.

Mixing alcohol and xannax is very bad news. I used to do that a lot, but I quit drinking completely three years ago so no more of that.
