I really need a ADHD med and the stimulant ones gave me the worse side affects. I researched this for a while, but I just found out it's a antidepressant. I don't have bipolar 2, so does that mean I shouldn't take this med? Will taking this med for ADHD cause mania? I know nothing of anti depressants since I never had to take one before. Do they make you tired or do they give you a lot of energy?

Any information on this drug would be very helpful

Strattera is activating, it was supposed to give me energy and work as an antidepressant, but it made half my body go numb and tingly so I had to stop it. Stimulants have always worked best for me, so its likely your experience will be completely different to mine.

How odd, I will ask my pdoc if that symptom is common and I'm glad it's activating. I see my pdoc this afternoon and I'm hoping this medication is right for me.

I dont think it is common, my pdoc was shocked and worried by it, she hadnt seen a reaction like that before. I havent had many bad reactions before and I have been on a lot of meds, everyones gotta have one I suppose!

Straterra was one of the first medication that my son tried. It did nothing to his adhd but helped his depression a little, but not enough to warrant adding another med. It didn't flip him into a "more hyper" state. I would say that an ADD non-stimulant is a lot less likely to flip you into a mania than an ADD stimulant. If non-stimulants don't work there is the possibility that your pdoc may hike your MS way up and then add a stimulant. that's what my sons pdoc did. It didn't make my son tired or hyper but he was only on it for 2 months.

I'm BP1 and on a AD it took a lot to find one that didn't flip me into mania but I needed an AD.

Provugil , ovugil - this one is supposed to be non stimulant and amazing at helping productivity & focus. I hear it is expensive. I will find out. I have not tried straterra. This is the one doctors & CEO's take. I've heard personally and some web articles.

is it available as generic? I hear the brand is very expensive too, around $300/mo retail. I would be interested in this as well.

Doctor friend said he'd get me one to try but flaked as usual. He said usually cost $20/pill and insurances aren't covering it. Hopefully I see my pdoc soon & will find out everything I can.
I liked this article:
Provigil: The Secret to Success? - ABC News
Doc friend hates stimulants but said I have to try this one and it was a great sensation to feel so fully awake without feeling spun like adderall can do. Obviously he kept the one extra for himself, jerk lol.

I have bipolar and cannot take stimulant drugs for my adhd because of med interactions.

I tried Straterra but it did nothing. Nothing good, nothing bad, just nothing.
