After no such luck on Geodon, (I've been having mixed episodes the last few weeks and decided it's just not working for me... I can't wait an entire week to titrate up the dose because I start a new job on Monday and need to be stable NOW) my pdoc has given me those other 3 choices. Geodon has been terrible for me, and I had a VERY bad depressive/panic attack like episode last night, it was absolutely terrible. I called my pdoc in hysterics and left him a message and said something along the lines of "I don't care if I turn into a fat cow, I want to be put back on saphris immediately!" (I switched from Saphris to Geodon, because I gained 15lbs on Saphris) He called me back this morning and told me to take Saphris today and for the next few days to become stable again for my job, but he doesn't think it's a good long term solution for me BECAUSE my main concern is weight gain, and it's obvious Saphris is making me fat, lol.

So anyway... He said the next "plan" would be to try either Latuda, Fanapt, or Trileptal.

Just wondering if anyone is on any of these currently or has tried them. I need something weight neutral

Thanks!

I've gained a lot of weight on Abilify and may be trying Trileptal next.

Ugh I just lost my whole reply! Anyway...

I'm actually on trileptal & latuda... Trileptal 900mg, latuda 20mg- both daily @ bedtime. Have been on trileptal since fall/winter & it has treated me pretty well. Haven't had to increase the dose as frequently as other anticonvulsants. No apparent weight gain either- always a plus. I haven't felt like a slug as I did with depakote. HOWEVER, I'm not stable (thought I was getting there & then a manic phase/cycling hit me-read on...) & we've been working with the atypicals quite a bit. Which leads me to latuda. I've been on that for about 1 1/2 weeks. No apparent side effects except for the midnight munchie monster has been hitting me... BUT I work 3-11 & that just happens sometime, so that's a big variable. I'm sleeping a more appropriate amount now that my seroquel has been cut down (100mg @ bedtime)... Still cycling but not as drastically & episodes are less intense. Mind you, I was rapid cycling at the time I started it (was hypomanic then thought I was crashing & surprise! Things got real crazy real fast... Wasn't expecting that as its not my norm)... Only other tidbit I can add is regarding foggy brain, hand tremors & dyspraxia. At first I thought it was the trileptal as it can cause hyponatremia & symptoms seemed like they were heading that way. Now it's apparent that it had been the seroquel, they're decreasing since the dose has. Now that I think about it, it was way worse in the morning. I kept forgetting to tell pdoc, so I never did have labs. What I'm getting at is that my original speculation of hyponatremia was just that (speculation), but keep in mind that it is something that can happen with trileptal.

Hope this helped. Sorry if this is terribly disorganized. I feel as though I'm rambling. Happy medicating!

Just started Trileptal. It seems to be pretty sedating, so not sure if you have to be operating heavy machinery at your job, but might want to think about it! Lol. Good luck!

Both Fanapt and Latuda were weight neutral for me, I was on about a month each , I didn't notice an improvement mood wise but I just felt very "off" while on them so I stopped it.

I've been on 20mg of Latuda since 8/8. I have not gained weight. I take it at bedtime with 50mg of Seroquel. I have noticed improved mood and I'm very pleased with how "even" I feel. I noticed a difference in mood about 7-10 days after I began taking it. I have experienced some big losses and changes recently and I feel relatively "stable" outside of normal sadness and other feelings--typically I would have experienced a hypo episode at a minimum.

Trileptal has been amazing for me. For the first time in almost a year I feel stable. I'm on risperdal for my psychotic symptoms and I'm sure that's helping as well. But give latuda a shot. I couldn't get it because of the cost.

I started Latuda 1 1/2 weeks ago after a crazy episode and it stopped my paranoia and makes me feel "even". You have to take it with a meal of at least 300 calories- not sure what happens if you don't.

I've been on Latuda since may. Actully helps with the psychotic symptoms. I went one week symptom free except for mild paranoia.

I agree my doctor is putting me on Latuda when I've already told him I need generics that are cheap since I have no insurance and he not listening evidentally. He also prescribed Wellbutrin XL (the generic version) and it is $280 per month. I can't afford either of these drugs. And right now pretty upset with my Pdoc.

I was put on Latuda 40mg a week ago. I haven't noticed any increased hunger so far.

I've lost 2 1/2 pounds on Latuda. Almost no more psychotic thoughts.
