Anyone else out there having trouble with sporadic periods and mood instability? I'm just realizing I havent had a period in 2 months (I'm 50) and my moods have gone from hypomanic in Sept to depressed these last 3 weeks, severely in the last 8 days with anxiety in the last few. So I started a period tonight so I'm curious to see what my mood will do. The reason I even recall this is, last year at this time of year I went through something similar but it lasted Nov through Jan with no period and total misery. I'm wondering if its hormone related as much as bp related? I'm keeping track as best I can, pretty scary crooked thoughts the other night though. Didnt want to end my life just wanted to stop the thoughts.

emomom, I'm 48 and haven't had my period in about 6 months - - so I'd say that's perimenopausal. Beginning about 3 months ago, I entered a severe depression that doesn't seem to be letting up. I've read a lot on the internet about perimenopausal changes affecting people's moods who have existing mood disorders. I hope that's the case for you and me, so there is stability in the future (when hormones "calm down".)
