jennyc, I had a bad experience on abilify too. I lost my motivation to do anything. Over time I started feeling really disconnected from other people and the world. Some people have good luck with it but not me........D.

I am happy I wasn't given Abilify, I stuck with my Haldol. I heard some bad side effects that go along with that medication so I told my doctor I didn't want to be on it. Weight gain was a major one for me. But that is just my personal opinion, it may have worked wonders for others.

You could talk to your dr about possibly backing off the dose and seeing how you react to that. I've been on abilify, seroquel and currently take saphris, all of them kind of sap me of my get up and go, saphris not so bad though. Although initially both abilify and saphris gave me a big jump in energy, it tapered off eventually. Seroquel was always sedating.

I've been taking Abilify for 3-4 months and I haven't had any motivational issues. If you take it during the day, try switching to taking it before bed. Also, it might be the Prozac that's causing the issue. I've never taken it, but from the reviews I have read, people tend to have similar issues with it.

I'm not a big Abilify fan. I did ok with it at 2.5mg-5mg for depression, but for mood stability I needed a high dose which made me lethargic and hungry! Now I'm on Latuda and it's been a great AAP and weight neutral! Prozac made me numb and hungry! I like Lexapro for an SSRI, and love Aplenzin is awesome for weight and good for depression and it's quite activating! Best of luck!!
