Hi I am getting ready to decrease some conventional medications. I will remain on some of my coctail, but would like to reduce it signifigantly. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate to hear them. I exercise regularly, eat healthy, drink lots of water. I am starting fish oil and NAC. My main problem is major depression and antidepressants make me activated.

I havent had success with any suppliments really. I do still take fish oil and admittedly since I started taking vitamin B I have had much less anxiety. But I havent taken it for 2 weeks and I still have no anxiety, so its hard to know if it was that or just the natural progression.

We have to be careful with supplements. I want to lose weight and so I ordered a supplement from the Dr. Oz show only to realize too late that it had seretonin in it. I am on a MAOI and can't take seretonin. Also, someone on an SSRI or SNRI shouldn't have any additional seretonin because you can get seretonin syndrome.

Magnesium helps with feeling anxious.
They make this powdered stuff that regulates your balance of calcium of magnesium called "Natural Calm". I take 1/4 tsp in my tea at night when I'm feeling agitated. Other than that, no idea if it's helping, but I take: Vit B complex Vit D Magnesium pill Fish oil pill ... Figure it can't hurt anything. |

She never said much about psych drugs until I asked her. She does say that supplements are better to use long-term BUT the only one I'm on now is called Deplin and was only put on that because they ran a genetic test that showed I was genetically predisposed to it from both my mother and father's side. I don't know if it helps otherwise. Just please be careful and titrate down slowly. You might want to research a little about what to expect. There are sometimes side-effects to coming off. Good luck... |
