We are reading this book in English (it's by Steinbeck) and the boy next to me kept telling the class that Ma Joad was bipolar because one second she was a sweet mother and the next she was hitting people over the head with a chicken. I kept trying to explain that bipolar was not at all what Ma Joad had but he wouldn't listen.
No need to comment, just typing it up 'cos it annoyed me.

I can understand you annoyance. I hate it when people are not open to the truth.

I'm sorry but on a brighter note it's a wonderful book.

When I first told my boyfriend that I was bipolar he was scared for about 3 months that I would hit him over the head with a frypan.
He probably should never have put the idea in my head because I have certainly been tempted at times! haha. |

When my pdoc first tried to diagnose me I was in denial (while manic) partly because I had the Same misconceptions about the disorder so it honestly can't blame most people for thinking this way. It is still very frustrating nevertheless.
