I'm newly diagnosed with bipolar and I'm having trouble dealing with this. Is this normal?

Yes, a lot of people go through a kind of 'self denial' period. It's self stigma, which is the most damaging kind of stigma. Try not to overthink it. You were diagnosed with a disorder, but it makes you no less awesome and it doesn't take away from your worth. Everything's okay, and.now that you know you have it, you can work towards managing it.

Sure is. In fact most bipolar people have great issues with coming to terms with the diagnosis. I was misdiagnosed with depression at first. When my pdoc noticed a drastic upswing in my moods and told me I had bipolar I was like hell no I don't. I abruptly stopped all meds thinking I was cured. It wasn't till I experienced my first full blown manic episode that I willingly took meds. For some people it takes years and multiple hospitilization so before they accept the diagnosis.
This is very normal. Just remember that this does NOT define you.

Thank you so much. I was also diagnosed with depression first too. I'm finding it hard to get used to it all and can't really talk to anyone so that helped
