What career did you want as a kid?
As an older Elementary (pre-teen)?
Teen?
Adult?

What do you do now?
Do you have any hobbies related to those former careers

Ok... so... I know a bunch of the things I wanted to be because my mom kept a book.

alright.
Age 5: a rockstar and a mom. I wanted to wear black tights and have a huge purple knitted sweater with sparkly black stars. And obviously teased hair. Go 80s!
Age 6: an artist and a scientist (can we see how my interests are already going into a spectrum?!)
Age 7: a farmer. I decided to combine the interested of outside and animals. And I didn't want to be a vet because I didn't want to hurt them. (I planned on being a sheep farmer and cutting off the wool - it's in my school yearbook!)

By about age 11 I settled on zoology. Which I stuck to until I was 14 or so when I decided that psychology was a better fit - I wanted to study behaviour but hated watching nature shows.

I stuck with that and got accepted for psychology - but took age 19 off to work and then switched in to English. I decided to go in to teaching because it was basically the same thing (human behaviour!) but only required 5 years of being a student (I hated being a student).

And now I am a teacher

Before age 10: A vocalist, an Egyptologist, an Astronaut, a Pilot, a Fire(wo)man.

11 - 16: A Marine Biologist, a Sniper / Explosives expert, a psychologist.

17-19 : Lawyer, Peer Counselor, Journalist.

The only thing I actually did / do on this list as an adult is "Vocalist". Lol seems I knew myself much better at age 4 than at any other time.

What do I wanna be when I grow up now?
Content.

When I was young I wanted to be a vet then as I got older I wanted to go into astrophysics. But alas, I'm stuck in a factory.

I wanted to be a biologist and work in the field of genetics.
I went to university, and found that I had no textbooks for 2 of my classes because the university ran out.
I quit, went home, and got married. End of biology career.

As far as I remember, as a kid I wanted to be almost everything, even a salesman or cab driver.
In my early teen years I don't remember wanting a certain profession.
Now I want to be a psychologist, writer, Nobel prize winner, artist...

I was obsessed with aviation as a kid. More obsessed than anyone else in the world. I so wanted to be an airline pilot. I was so obsessed I believed it was going to happen. @18 I went to flight school (I did solo) but had my first symptoms ever show up. I had a nervous breakdown and never finished flight school. So fast forward 5 years. I became a flight attendant <<That was fun!>> Anyways I saw what the pilots do these days and found it very boring. It's like an xbox but full of people. Pilots though do also have to fly the aircraft, and they are very talented and experienced so it's not a literal term when I say, all they do is push buttons.

During elementary school I wanted to be an archeologist. After that I had some idea of living in an RV with loads of animals. Then I wanted to be a writer and teacher. I got talked out of teaching school by my college advisor at age 20, I went back to school at age 41 and got my license to teach.

What career did you want as a kid? Ballerina! (no idea why)
As an older Elementary (pre-teen)? Veterinarian
Teen? Musician - I played saxophone and piano
Adult? Professional artist (ha), art professor, really anything doing art. I'd also be content being a florist, flowers make me really happy

What do you do now? Art teacher - middle school
Do you have any hobbies related to those former careers I still try to make art, but less when i'm teaching. I sew, paint, draw, and do other random things, probably like most of us

As a kid I wanted to be a veterinarian, as an older elementary still a veterinarian, as a teen it changed to wanting to be a psychologist. As an adult I'm not currently sure what I want to be.

I'm 19 right now and will be taking college classes again in the spring, hopefully with some research and my general studies done I can make a good decision on what career I want, although I don't want the jobs I wanted as a kid, they are more like my dream jobs.

This is kind of funny now that I'm 50. I made it to my chosen career after years of education and practice only to realize I was no good at it and only pursued it for the money.

I'm so screwed up I'm on disability now. My head couldn't take it and exploded in 2008.

I wanted to be an exotic veterinarian until I became diagnosed with schizoaffective. I had the grades, the scholarship and I worked with wildlife at a wildlife animal rehabilitation clinic for a while so I had some experience. I gave vaccinations to raccoons mostly and I took care of foxes, squirrels, groundhogs, etc., but my mental illnesses ruined my opportunities and now I'm at a community college doing pre med. I've decided to do radiology since it's something I can do locally without dorming at a college far away.

When I was young I wanted to be a psychiatrist, until I realized you had to go to medical school first.
When I was a senior in high school I wanted to do graphic art, but got married instead at 17.
At 25, I became a mother and that is all I wanted to do.
Now I'm a receptionist and am bored stiff. ;-)
Never found time for me to go to school.

And didn't want to become nothing in my teenager years and after them. But when I was a kid I wanted to be a hero like robin-wood (I'm a woman). Guess it is not a profession.

I wanted to be an actress as a kid, or a veterinarian. I changed my mind pretty quick about being a vet, I just don't like blood and stuff.
I did do some acting as a teenager and loved it. I miss it. In college I took a couple classes, but it's very hard to make a career out of that. In high school I thought I wanted to be an accountant, then I took a class and really didn't like it. Glad I didn't major in it Lol. Numbers aren't my thing.
In college I ended up majoring in PR. I like a lot of aspects of it, but haven't made a career of it yet. Still working on it.

I was always told I wouldn't amount to much and was good for nothing ... ended up failing at a lot of things but now .. reevaluating myself .. is being normal considered a career?
